  3. Wakefield reaction

    FT: Huddersfield 16-28 Wakefield

Quote Message: It got a bit nervous when they started coming out in the first half. The boys did great in the second half and the plan was to come out strong and show what we're made of. from Wakefield prop David Fifita Speaking to Sky Sports

  4. Full time

    Huddersfield 16-28 Wakefield

    Tom Johnstone

A superb, confident performance from Wakefield who have had an amazing turnaround in fortunes under Chris Chester.

Four tries each on the night but Huddersfield did not kick any of their goals and Liam Finn kicked six with a couple of penalties in there.

No one will fancy facing in-form Trinity in the last four.

  5. TRY (McGillvary)

    Huddersfield 16-28 Wakefield

Barely any celebration from the Huddersfield players as Jermaine McGillvary crosses.

The England winger is on the end of a slick attacking move again.

Jamie Ellis cannot add a couple more.

  6. NO TRY

    Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

    But what do I know?

Tom Symonds is denied by the boot of Tom Johnstone and being wrestled away from the try line, and Wakefield escape.

  7. TRY REVIEW (Symonds)

    Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

It looks as if Tom Symonds might have got a consolation score for the Giants here...

  8. Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

This will be the first time that Wakefield have been into the last four since 2008.

If any Trinity fans want to look a bit further ahead, your last final was in 1979 and the last time you won the competition was back in 1963.

  9. Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

    Fans

Wakefield fans in full voice now and why not?

Their team has been magnificent tonight.

  10. Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

Jacob Miller with a superb dart through a tiny gap in the Huddersfield defence.

As he tries to find a team-mate, Aaron Murphy knocks the ball on and Trinity will have a scrum close to the Giants line.

  11. Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

This is the prize that Huddersfield, Wakefield and six other Super League clubs are playing for...

    Challenge Cup

It looks as if Huddersfield will be the first ones out at the last-eight stage.

They have 16 points to make up with just over 10 minutes remaining. Three converted scores by my calculations.

  12. PENALTY (Finn)

    Huddersfield 12-28 Wakefield

And Liam Finn takes his time over the penalty right in front of the posts, but another two points that puts Wakefield closer to a Challenge Cup semi-final.

  13. Huddersfield 12-26 Wakefield

It's all just died down for a few minutes, before Wakefield's Jacob Miller dabs a bouncing kick through that is difficult for Scott Grix to deal with but he takes it out.

The enigma that is Danny Brough tries a short restart but it doesn't go 10m so Wakefield have a penalty.

  14. Huddersfield 12-26 Wakefield

Just as it looked as if it was about to open up for Huddersfield, they come up with another handling error.

Michael Lawrence the guilty party this time, just 10m from the Wakefield try line.

  15. Huddersfield 12-26 Wakefield

    Ben Jones-Bishop

Into the final quarter of the game.

It was about this time in the first half that Huddersfield suddenly turned it on and began to look a force.

Can that Jermaine McGillvary try inspire something similar?

  16. TRY (McGillvary)

    Huddersfield 12-26 Wakefield

    Jermaine McGillvary

Never switch off after a try, a goal, a penalty, etc.

Slick hands from Huddersfield now sends Jermaine McGillvary in out wide to give them a slither of hope.

Easy finish, but another Danny Brough missed kick means there are still 14 points to make up.

  17. TRY (Fifita, goal Finn)

    Huddersfield 8-26 Wakefield

David Fifita will not be denied!!

The Australian prop scores his second of the game as he hits a great line off Liam Finn on the inside and bundles through a few tackles to crash over.

Is that the score that sends Wakefield into a semi-final for the first time since 2008?

    David Fifita
  18. NO TRY

    Huddersfield 8-20 Wakefield

    Wakefield's David Fifita denied.

A grubber kick through, Danny Brough tries to gather but spills it sideways and forwards.

It hits the pad on the post and then hits the referee before Fifita pounces on it.

Wakefield get the scrum from the Brough knock-on, though.

  19. TRY REVIEW (Fifita)

    Huddersfield 8-20 Wakefield

This could be one of the most bizarre tries you're every likely to see from Wakefield, we're with the video referee...

  20. Chester heading back to Wembley?

    Huddersfield 8-20 Wakefield

    Chris Chester

    He is right now.

Wakefield coach Chris Chester is no stranger to the Challenge Cup final, having led Hull KR to Wembley a little under a year ago.

Don't worry, Rovers fans. I won't mention that Chester's side lost 50-0 to Leeds Rhinos.
