  1. Goodbye for now

    FT: Gloucester 23-19 Sale

That's it for tonight, rejoin us tomorrow at 14:45 GMT, when we'll bring you the build-up to Saturday's Premiership action.

  2. Relive the action

    FT: Gloucester 23-19 Sale

My colleague Brendon Mitchell has been busy writing a report on tonight's game. It's available here, including post-match reaction from both camps later tonight.

  3. The rest of the Premiership action

So round six of the Premiership is underway and we've got some absolute belters to look forward to over the weekend.

    Here's what's coming up...

    Saturday, 5 December

    Harlequins v London Irish - 15:00 GMT

    Worcester v Leicester - 15:00 GMT

    Bath v Northampton - 15:15 GMT

    Wasps v Exeter - 17:30 GMT

    Sunday, 6 December

    Newcastle v Saracens - 15:00 GMT

  4. FT: Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Sale of course earn themselves a bonus point with that result, but their search for an away win goes on. How many better opportunities will they get this season?

  5. FT: Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Sione Kalamafoni is rightly named man-of-the-match. Huge performance by the big number eight. What a great way to start round six.

  6. Full-time

    Gloucester 23-19 Sale

    Gloucester try

Huge victory for Gloucester as a massive roar goes around Kingsholm but Sale will be kicking themselves, they wasted so many opportunities to earn a rare away victory. That final line-out summed up their performance.

  7. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Sale make a mess of the line-out and Gloucester win the ball and possession. It's kicked into touch. They've won the game.

  8. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Gloucester win the scrum and kick up field, Sale run the ball back and win a penalty inside their own half. Danny Cipriani kicks to Gloucester's 22. We're in injury time.

  9. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Gloucester clear up field, possession is back and forth but eventually Sale are penalised and Gloucester have a scrum slightly inside their own half.

  10. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

The ball emerges from the back of the scrum and Chris Cusiter is away down the blindside, he finds Will Addison who steps inside but the wing is tackled and the ball is held illegally. Gloucester have the penalty. Huge relief around Kingsholm. Two minutes left.

  11. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Sale have a scrum just inside the 22, can they make it count? Time is running out.

  12. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Gloucester wing Jonny May has made a mistake here kicking the ball out on the full and Sale have a decent attacking opportunity.

  13. Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Breathless stuff at Kingsholm as Sale give up possession after a forward pass and Gloucester have a chance to earn some vital territory with not much time on the clock.

  14. Penalty (Cipriani)

    Gloucester 23-19 Sale

Danny Cipriani sends the ball inbetween the posts and Sale are now four points behind with 10 minutes remaining.

  15. Gloucester 23-16 Sale

That's a wonderful break from Danny Cipriani, who rides two tackles as Sam Tuitupou eventually takes the ball on. Sale are well inside Gloucester's 22 and they win a penalty in front of the posts. Cipriani goes for goal.

  16. Replacement

    Gloucester 23-16 Sale

    Sione Kalamafoni

Sione Kalamafoni's work is done for the evening. Meanwhile, Chris Cusiter is on at scrum-half for Sale.

  17. Gloucester 23-16 Sale

Sale go through 24 phases but Gloucester's defence is so disciplined and eventually James Hook rips the ball out in the tackle and clears the ball upfield. 15 minutes left in this pulsating encounter.

  18. Gloucester 23-16 Sale

Sione Kalamafoni playing in place of England man Ben Morgan has justified his selection in emphatic fashion. He's been superb in this second half. Have Sale got anything left in the tank to get back in this game?

  19. Try (Kalamafoni, con Laidlaw)

    Gloucester 23-16 Sale

    Sione Kalamafoni

Sione Kalamafoni has his second try of the game and Gloucester are back in front. Greig Laidlaw sends over the conversion.

  20. Gloucester 16-16 Sale

Gloucester are back in Sale's 22. Rob Cook is just shy of the try line on the right wing as the ball comes back infield. Sione Kalamafoni collects a pass but it's debatable whether he grounded correctly or whether the last pass was forward. It's TMO time.

  21. Gloucester 16-16 Sale

We're back to 15-men apiece as Richard Hibbard returns to the field.

  22. Try (Kalamafoni, missed con Laidlaw)

    Gloucester 16-16 Sale

    Sione Kalamafoni

We're level at Kingsholm as Sione Kalamafoni goes over in the corner after a wonderful miss pass takes out three Sale defenders and finds the big man on the wing. The 14 men are level but Greig Laidlaw cannot add the extras.

  23. Gloucester 11-16 Sale

Sale win the resulting line-out and after the forwards go through several phases Stringer spreads the ball to the three-quarters. There's a fumble from Danny Cipriani and Sale are penalised as they attempt to win back the ball on the floor. Gloucester clear their lines. Another wasted penalty.

  24. Gloucester 11-16 Sale

Peter Stringer is bundled into the advertising hoardings unfairly by Jonny May and handbags start to fly. It's nothing serious but tempers are flaring. Sale have the penalty and they kick to the corner.

  25. Try (Edwards, con missed)

    Gloucester 11-16 Sale

    Nev Edwards

Sale break back into Gloucester's 22 after a fine burst from Mike Haley, he beats several tackles and steps inside before finding Nev Edwards on the left wing and he goes over in the corner. It's two for the debuntant.

Danny Cipriani cannot add the extras.

  26. Gloucester 11-11 Sale

Can you believe it? The line-out misses its target and Gloucester have stolen possession. The pressure relents as they clear, but for how much longer?

  27. Gloucester 11-11 Sale

It's the same result, a Sale line-out and drive and another penalty conceded by Gloucester just shy of their try line. Sale again kick to the corner. Pressure is growing.

  28. Sin-bin (Hibbard)

    Gloucester 11-11 Sale

The lin- out is won and Sale drive to the corner but it's intentionally brought down by Richard Hibbard and he's sent to the bin. Another penalty, another kick to the corner.

  29. Gloucester 11-11 Sale

Sale's Peter Stringer launches the ball down the blindside and Charlie Sharples makes a mess of it and eventually they concede a penalty for not releasing. It's kicked to the corner.

  30. Gloucester 11-11 Sale

We've got a clash in the air between James Hook and Mike Haley. Hook launched a high kick into Sale's half and as both players attempt to collect the ball they collide. Referee rules there was no foul play though and it's a scrum to Sale.

  31. Penalty (Cipriani)

    Gloucester 11-11 Sale

    Danny Cipriani

Gloucester concede a penalty from the kick off with Jeremy Thrush failing to release after collecting the ball and Danny Cipriani levels the game.

  32. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Teams back on the pitch here at Kingsholm and we're back under way.

So Gloucester are ahead and, considering their record at home and Sale's record away, it looks as though this one is going to form.

But will it stay that way?

  37. Half-time

    Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Gloucester have one last attempt at points but they knock on in contact inside Sale's 22. Sale look to launch a late assault and Nev Edwards is away down the wing but his pass inside is intercepted and that's half-time.

  38. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Sale win the line-out, recycle the ball but Gloucester's defence is well set and Sale themselves concede a penalty with Nev Edwards failing to release. Story of their half.

  39. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Danny Cipriani kicks a penalty to Gloucester's 22 and they have a line-out with a minute remaining.

  40. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

    Billy Twelvetrees

Gloucester have a penalty which they kick to the corner and they're in Sale's 22. They make a mess of the line-out though, dropping the ball. What a waste.

  41. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Sale win the line-out but their play is predictable and it comes to nothing. Scrum to Gloucester.

  42. Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Huge tackle from Paddy McAllister on TJ Ioane but the Gloucester man does not release and a penalty is conceded. Again Danny Cipriani sends a penalty to the corner from kickable range.

  43. Penalty (Twelvetrees)

    Gloucester 11-8 Sale

Gloucester have another penalty but this one is 46 metres out and just shy of the halfway line. Billy Twelvetrees fancies his chances though and he's right to as it sails comfortably through the post with room to spare.

Even the Sale media team tip their hat...

  44. Penalty (Twelvetrees)

    Gloucester 8-8 Sale

And Billy Twelvetrees sends over the penalty from 17 metres to level the scores. Danny Cipriani puts the restart out on the full. Cue donkey chants from The Shed.

  45. Gloucester 5-8 Sale

Right, can Gloucester get themselves back in the game? Jonny May launches a hopeful kick forward and Nev Edwards fails to collect, the bounce goes in Gloucester's favour and Sale concede a penalty inside their own 22 after failing to release.

  46. Gloucester 5-8 Sale

    Josh Beaumont

Right, let's rewind a second. Some number crunching from my colleague Brendon Mitchell tells me Rob Cook's try was Gloucester's first in 184 mins. It's been downhill since then.

  47. Penalty (Cipriani)

    Gloucester 5-8 Sale

Billy Twelvetrees is penalised for a high tackle on Mike Haley and Danny Cipriani sends over the three points for Sale, who now lead after conceding that early try. Breathless start at Kingsholm.

  48. Gloucester 5-5 Sale

Sale have got the bit between their teeth here at Kingsholm. Another penalty is kicked to the corner but it comes to nothing after Danny Cipriani's grubber through comes back off the legs of a Gloucester back. The ball is eventually in touch and Gloucester have some respite.

  49. Try (Edwards, missed con Cipriani)

    Gloucester 5-5 Sale

    Nev Edwards

It's a try for the debut man Nev Edwards, who collects a clever lobbed kick from former schoolmate Danny Cipriani to go over unchallenged. Wonderful link-up play from the two and what a start to Premiership rugby for Edwards.

  50. Gloucester 5-0 Sale

Nice stat there from OptaJonny but Gloucester have conceded one in decent territory. Sale choose to kick to the corner but their adventure comes to nothing and Gloucester eventually win a scrum.

  51. Gloucester 5-0 Sale

  52. Gloucester 5-0 Sale

Sale go through 15 phases of play themselves and it leads to room on the right wing but a loose pass from Sam Tuitupou is intercepted by wing Jonny May, who is bundled into touch with what looked like a high tackle. No penalty though, just a line-out.

  53. Try (Cook, missed con Twelvetrees)

    Gloucester 5-0 Sale

    Rob Cook

Gloucester win the line-out, recycle the ball across the pitch and 15 phases later Rob Cook eventually goes over in the left-hand corner after a smart pass from James Hook. Stunning start by the hosts.

  54. Gloucester 0-0 Sale

Sale make a mess of the kick-off and allow the ball to bounce, Charlie Sharples collects and finds room on the wing but the visitors recover the ball is in touch.

  55. Kick-off

    Gloucester 0-0 Sale
