  1. Thank you and goodbye

Well, that was an enthralling evening of Premiership rugby wasn't it?

A Northampton red card and a late winning try from Vereniki Goneva sees Newcastle come away from Franklin's Gardens with a 22-16 win, moving them up to seventh in the table.

Meanwhile at Ashton Gate, Bristol's bad form goes on with their ninth league loss in-a-row, but they claimed a fourth bonus point of the season as they went down 21-16 to Leicester.

BBC Sport will be back with live commentary of Exeter v Worcester tomorrow afternoon from 16:30 GMT.

  2. Red card 'horrendous' - Mallinder

    FT: Northampton 16-22 Newcastle

Northampton director of rugby Jim Mallinder tells BT Sport about Kieran Brookes' red card late in the first half:

"He did touch his head and I guess that's why the referee has gone for the red.

"It's horrendous really, I thought we came back in the second half well and really fought our way back.

"We defended well and put the ball in the right positions in the first 20 or 25 minutes."

  3. Bristol stay rooted to the bottom

    FT: Bristol 16-21 Leicester

So another game and another loss for newly-promoted Bristol, who are still under the control of interim head coach Mark Tainton after Andy Robinson was sacked.

But unlike London Welsh two seasons ago, Bristol have picked up some points and you feel it will not be too long before they finally get that elusive first win of the season.

  4. What a time to get your first try

    FT: Northampton 16-22 Newcastle

Vereniki Goneva had not had the best of starts to his Newcastle career.

After joining the Falcons from Leicester in the summer he managed just three games before getting injured.

But he returned as a replacement in the loss to Exeter last week and made his mark in his first start since being hurt, setting up the first try and scoring a spectacular third in the win over Saints - the Fijian's first score for the Falcons.

  5. 'Basics' let Bristol down

    FT: Bristol 16-21 Leicester

    Ross McMillan

Bristol hooker on BBC Radio Bristol

"We fought really well to come back in the second half.

"It's about that game-management, understanding where we are on the pitch.

"Our basic let us down at certain points."

  6. "It's awesome for our season"

    FT: Northampton 16-22 Newcastle

Newcastle fly-half and Man of the Match Joel Hodgson on BT Sport:

"We've always been there or thereabouts, we've always known we can mix it and with the game plan we've got we can put teams under pressure.

"We talked about keeping the ball in the right areas and that's what we did.

"It's awesome for our season and will do us wonders."

  7. Full-time

    Northampton 16-22 Newcastle

    Northampton will be gutted.

Down to 14 men and leading with six minutes to go, but Vereniki Goneva's late interception and length-of-the-field try means Newcastle get their second away win of the season and move up to seventh in the Premiership.

  8. Full-time

    Bristol 16-21 Leicester

Bristol will look back and ask 'What could have been?' as they come close to the Tigers.

Leicester will be relieved to come away from Ashton Gate with the four points, but surely Bristol will get a win soon.

  9. Try (Goneva, Hodgson conv)

    Northampton 16-22 Newcastle

Newcastle's Vereniki Goneva intercepts Tom Kessel's pass 10m from his own tryline and turns on the jet boots to run the length of the field, leaving Ben Foden for dead on the 22m line and crosses.

    Joel Hodgson adds the extras.

  10. Penalty (Jarvis)

    Bristol 16-21 Leicester

Adrian Jarvis gets Bristol to within bonus-point territory, can they go on and get all four points and first Premiership win of the season?

  11. Penalty (Myler)

    Northampton 16-15 Newcastle

Northampton go back in front as Stephen Myler puts a three-pointer over from a central position 23 metres out after a Newcastle offside.

  12. 'Still in this game'

    Bristol 13-21 Leicester

    Ross McMillan

Bristol hooker on BBC Radio Bristol

"We need that little bit of calmness now, because we're still in this game. We've still got an opportunity."

  13. Bristol stand firm

    Bristol 13-21 Leicester

Bristol's defence holds firm on their own line after intense pressure from Leicester. Can they turn this around and get their first win of the season?

  14. Try (Witty, Hodgson conv)

    Northampton 13-15 Newcastle

Newcastle Replacement Opeti Fonua powerfully breaks through the Saints defence and is held up on the tryline, Falcons recycle the ball and Will Witty goes over from close range.

Joel Hodgson adds to his tally with the conversion and 15-man Newcastle are back in front.

  15. Day OK...

    Northampton 13-8 Newcastle

Christian Day is up on his feet and walking off the field, but his game is over after that bang on the head.

Can Northampton, who have 14 men, cope with the loss of such an experienced campaigner?

  16. Ouch

    Northampton 13-8 Newcastle

Northampton's try-scorer Christian Day is on the deck after a bang on the head and is receiving treatment. Looks really nasty - fingers crossed he's OK.

Meanwhile Newcastle's dangerous winger Marcus Watson has had to come off with a hamstring injury.

  17. Post update

    Bristol 13-21 Leicester

    Damian Derrick

    Commentator, BBC Radio Bristol

"Bristol are now a man to the good and have the opportunity to take advantage."

  18. Try (Hawkins, Jarvis conv)

    Bristol 13-21 Leicester

Replacement hooker Rob Hawkins goes over against his former club after the Bristol pack recycle the ball well.

Adrian Jarvis adds the extra two points.

  19. Sin-bin (McCaffrey)

    Bristol 6-21 Leicester

Leicester's Lachlan McCaffrey goes into the bin for an infringement in defence.

  20. Even Stevens....

    Bristol 6-21 Leicester

Jason Woodward returns to the field for Bristol after his yellow card and we're back to 15 aside at Ashton Gate.
