  6. Full-time

    Newcastle 30-34 Wasps

    Newcastle v Wasps

Eight tries in total and two sides that really went at each other for 80 minutes plus.

Newcastle Falcons pushed Saracens in Round 11 and this time made Wasps work extremely hard for their victory.

Notable performances from so many on the field by Wasps' Guy Thompson is named the Aviva Man of the Match.

  7. Post update

    Newcastle 30-34 Wasps

Wasps concede the penalty and Newcastle keep the ball in hand showing great patience and they're finally over the halfway line.

It's sensible rugby from Newcastle but they just an't find a way through. Dom Waldouck is bundled into touch and as a result the full time whistle blows.

  8. Post update

    Newcastle 30-34 Wasps

Newcastle have one final bite at the cherry as they gain possession of the restart. The clock heads into the red but the Falcons are deep inside their own half.

Can they work themselves up the field? Can they gain that final score?

  9. Try (Wilson, missed con Hodgson)

    Newcastle 30-34 Wasps

Off the scrum Newcastle gain another penalty and Mark Wilson takes a quick tap. He can't score on his first attempt but he gets a second bite at the cherry and makes no mistake.

Agonizingly for the home crowd Joel Hodgson's conversion hits the posts... there are four points in it and 40 seconds to play.

  10. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

The biggest home crowd of the season at Kingston Park have found their voice as Sonatane Takulua gets ready to feed the scrum.

Josh Bassett has taken the role of Guy Thompson in the scrum to give Wasps a full complement of players and referee Tom Foley is taking his time to ensure that the scrum set properly.

  11. Sin-bin (Thompson)

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

Once again Wasps give away a penalty for being offside and Tom Foley heads to his pocket and hands Guy Thompson a yellow card.

The visitors will now end the match with 14 men.

  12. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

Wasps are caught offside and Joel Hodgson gets every inch out of his kick. The try-line is in sight and the hosts have the line-out... can they make it count?

  13. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

Clearly Sonatane Takulua is well aware that time is ticking down as he makes an outstanding solo break and it gives Newcastle the spark that they need.

Ashley Johnson flies off his feet the hosts kick the penalty to touch. What have they got left?

  14. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

Newcastle gain the free kick off the scrum and Joe Hodgson gives the kick distance but as it goes into touch Wasps gain the ball back. Once again they have the ball in hand but it comes to nothing.

Time is ticking down for the hosts as we're inside the final minutes and they know that they need to strike next.

  15. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

This time it's Newcastle that are having a bit of an issue with discipline. Another penalty gives Wasps field position and their big ball carries, Nathan Hughes and Ashley Johnson drive it on. Johnson can't quite keep control and Newcastle gain the scrum.

  16. Post update

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

Newcastle are pinged at the maul and as the penalty is delivered Josh Bassett comes back onto the field for the visitors.

Wasps choose to keep it tight off the penalty and after the two sides trade kicks Wasps are back on the attack.

  17. Penalty (Daly)

    Newcastle 25-34 Wasps

51 metres you say... no problem!

Elliot Daly has a cannon of a boot and he made that one look easy. Three points are added to Wasps' tally and soon they'll be back to a full compliment of players.

  18. Post update

    Newcastle 25-31 Wasps

Wasps are back in possession and have set up the rolling maul, they get the shove on and draw a penalty. The kick is on the halfway line and as you'd expect Elliot Daly calls for the kicking tee.

  19. Post update

    Newcastle 25-31 Wasps

Once again tempo is the name of the game. Wasps' attack comes to nothing as James Gaskell can't find the offload and now Newcastle look for the counter.

With a little over three minutes left on Josh Bassett's sin-bin can Newcastle make their extra man count with a try?

  20. Post update

    Newcastle 25-31 Wasps

It's pragmatic rugby from Wasps at the minute as they are keeping it in tight and Joe Simpson delivers a clearing kick that Vereniki Goneva fumbles. Wasps take advantage of the line-out and again start to rumble forwards.
