    FT: Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Well then, that just about concludes things for the evening. Thanks for joining us.

Do be sure to come back tomorrow as the Premiership action continues with more live text and radio coverage right here on the BBC Sport website.

It's a happy night for Newcastle Falcons, who are defying expectations and having a terrific 2016-17.

Bath's bid for the play-offs shouldn't need to be defined by this result - there is much more to come from them. But they'll make the long, long journey back to the West Country feeling that they should have won tonight.

    Until next time, good night.

  2. Three losses in a row

    FT: Newcastle 24-22 Bath

The defeat is Bath's third in a row. They stay fourth in the table but their losing bonus points moves them to within a point of third-placed Exeter.

  3. Reaction

    FT: Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Newcastle's Man of the Match Joel Hodgson tells BT Sport:

"We were a bit disappointed last week not to come away with a win.

"It's a huge relief because we know we can do it. Thankfully we got the rub of the green and a few good bounces.

"There were a lot of dogged efforts out there. We're an 80-minute team and people are starting to see that more and more.

    "It was all about belief."

  4. Newcastle into the top half

    FT: Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Well, what a season Falcons are having! They're up to sixth in the Premiership as things stand.

  5. Full-time

    Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Delirious scenes around Kingston Park. Falcons have won! It was a cracking comeback.

    Bath can scarcely believe it.

  6. Post update

    Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Joel Hodgson kicks into the corner from that penalty for Newcastle. The hosts claim the ball from the line-out... Is that the deciding moment?

  7. Post update

    Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Newcastle win a penalty to halt a Bath attack and the hosts celebrate it like they've won the game.

    One minute remains.

  8. Post update

    Newcastle 24-22 Bath

Matt Garvey limps off for Bath to get some treatment.

The hosts appear to have everything going their own way as the clock runs down...

  9. Try (Harris, con Hodgson)

    Newcastle 24-22 Bath

What a game this has become! Falcons take the lead.

Ben Harris gets a huge try, after Vereniki Goneva's earlier break.

Joel Hodgson's kick gives them a two-point advantage.

Bath have two-and-a-half minutes to rescue this match.

  10. Post update

    Newcastle 17-22 Bath

Vereniki Goneva has all in Kingston Park on their feet as he bundles past two Bath tackles, but the hosts are held up short of the line.

But the attack isn't over yet...

  11. Post update

    Newcastle 17-22 Bath

Newcastle believe they can win this again. They have the ball, along halfway. Their fans are urging them on.

Can they give us a thrilling finale?

  12. Try (Wilson, con Hodgson)

    Newcastle 17-22 Bath

But it is game on now as Newcastle get one back.

Mark Wilson is the man to eventually dive over the line after several Falcons bodies attempt to force the ball beyond the try line. They were less than 1m out for numerous phases, after an initial break from Joel Hodgson.

Hodgson adds the extras. We now have a five-point game.

  13. Post update

    Newcastle 10-22 Bath

    Newcastle v Bath

Both sides have made a series of changes, so there are plenty of fresh legs on the field for these final 10 minutes.

Bath are closing in on a win that would see them move back up to third in the table for tonight at least.

  14. Missed penalty (Bath)

    Newcastle 10-22 Bath

From 44m, Bath have the chance to try and move 15 points clear and George Ford's kick has the length and height but it clips the inside of the upright and bounces clear. That's bad luck on the visitors.

  15. Post update

    Newcastle 10-22 Bath

You get the sense that passage of play will be key to the result: Anthony Watson denying Falcons a certain try at one end and then feeding Semesa Rokoduguni for Bath's third try of the half at the other.

  16. Try (Rokoduguni, missed con Ford)

    Newcastle 10-22 Bath

But straight down the other end, Semesa Rokoduguni is there again and it's a very well-worked Bath try.

They spread it to the right, Anthony Watson is there, he makes some yards, passes for Rokoduguni out wide and the England wing darts inside past the last man in the Falcons defence and that might be Bath heading for victory.

This time, the conversion is missed by George Ford from a tight angle.

  17. Penalty (Newcastle)

    Newcastle 10-17 Bath

But Falcons were playing advantage so they do go back for the penalty and they reduce the deficit through Joel Hogson's boot.

  18. Post update

    Newcastle 7-17 Bath

If Anthony's Watson's previous try-saving tackle was relatively simply, this one is truly world class.

Falcons get the ball out wide to Evan Olmstead, just 5m out, in space, and he'll surely score... No! Watson gets across and up-ends him into touch.

    Just brilliant.

  19. Post update

    Newcastle 7-17 Bath

What are my eyes seeing?! Prop Jon Welch breaks forward for Newcastle, looks up, sees only one man in between himself and the try line and tries to chip and run, solo...

But Anthony Watson stops him in his track. The home fans chuckle and applause. Bad luck, fella.

  20. Replacement (Bath)

    Newcastle 7-17 Bath

It is a Premiership debut for highly-rated Kiwi Robbie Fruean. He's on for Ben Tapuai.
