  1. Try review

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

Stuart Townsend dives over the line

And they may well have just added some more points!

Exeter Chiefs think they've scored another try, but we're heading to the television match official...

  2. Post update

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

Newcastle are back in possession and back inside their own 22, before replacement Sonatane Takulua tries to kick for territory - instead only managing to send his clearance out of play on the full.

The Falcons have kept plugging away since the break, but it's the Chiefs who look the more likely to add further points...

  3. Grandstand finish for Waldrom?

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

    Brent Pilnick

    BBC Sport at Sandy Park

A huge ovation for Thomas Waldrom as he comes on for what will be his final appearance at Sandy Park.

The big back row is making his 100th appearance for Exeter and has scored 51 tries in that time - twice being he leagues top scorer.

Who'd bet against him adding to that in the final minutes??

  4. Post update

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

Here's a substitution worth telling you about - Thomas 'The Tank' Waldrom comes on for his final Exeter Chiefs appearance, a real legend in these parts.

    Henry Slade also makes way.

  5. Post update

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

Right then, Newcastle, what have you got left in the tank?

They once more try to run the ball from deep inside their own half, before a long kick forward is gathered brilliantly by centre Henry Slade.

  6. Try (Woodburn, con Simmonds)

    Exeter 29-5 Newcastle

    Olly Woodburn scores for Exeter

And surely that is the match!

After a couple of sharp phases, Exeter manage to tee up Olly Woodburn for a smart finish in the corner - his ninth try of the season and possibly the most important.

Joe Simmonds convert and Exeter, you'd have thought, are Twickenham bound.

  7. Post update

    Exeter 22-5 Newcastle

Hold the phone, in the blink of an eye Exeter are on the attack from the restart...

  8. Try (Tait, missed con Flood)

    Exeter 22-5 Newcastle

    Game on?!

Toby Flood releases Alex Tait, who strolls over from close range. Newcastle really, really needed that.

But then something you hardly ever see from the conversation - Lachlan Turner springs off the line to charge down Flood's kick from in front of the posts! Remarkable.

  9. Post update

    Exeter 22-0 Newcastle

Now then, what they can they do here?

The Falcons secure the line-out and are up to the five-metre line...

  10. Post update

    Exeter 22-0 Newcastle

And Newcastle have a penalty! To the corner or to the posts? To the corner it is.

Meanwhile, Exeter bring a couple of fresh props on as Rob Baxter looks to his replacements bench.

  11. Post update

    Exeter 22-0 Newcastle

Newcastle have some rare possession, working the ball up to the halfway line through Sinoti Sinoti and Niki Goneva, so brilliant all season but so quiet this afternoon.

The Falcons are into a sixth phase - the most they've managed so far in this semi-final.

  12. Penalty (Simmonds)

    Exeter 22-0 Newcastle

    Joe Simmonds kicks goalwards

Joe Simmonds takes his personal tally for the afternoon to 17 and extends the advantage to 22.

A raft of Newcastle changes follows, but this is looking an incredibly long way back.

  13. Post update

    Exeter 19-0 Newcastle

But Newcastle concede another penalty at the breakdown soon after - failing to release and playing the ball on the floor - and again Joe Simmonds shouts for the tee boy.

  14. Post update

    Exeter 19-0 Newcastle

And what a kick this is from Joe Simmonds, so impressive already this afternoon.

He pops the ball into the corner and once more the Falcons are pinned deep inside their own half.

They do, at least, get the line-out right this time...

  15. Post update

    Exeter 19-0 Newcastle

Soon after, there's a bit of concern for Newcastle full-back Simon Hammersley, who has stayed down after a heavy challenge.

But he's back up soon enough and Exeter are able to resume their game of attack versus defence.

Jack Nowell is tackled by Newcastle players
  16. Penalty (Simmonds)

    Exeter 19-0 Newcastle

Joe Simmonds isn't one to pass up that kind of opportunity and Exeter's grip on a final spot at Twickenham just gets tighter and tighter.

  17. Post update

    Exeter 16-0 Newcastle

And moments later, to compound the missed opportunity, Newcastle concede a penalty right infront of the sticks around 30 metres out and this has Joe Simmonds' name written all over it...

  18. Post update

    Exeter 16-0 Newcastle

Goodness me - and then so close to an interception try for Niki Goneva!

Joe Simmonds' long, floaty pass out wide to the Exeter left wobbles in the air and nearly allows the Newcastle wing in from inside the Falcons half - but he can't quite snaffle it.

  19. Post update

    Exeter 16-0 Newcastle

The Chiefs surprisingly cough up possession, though, and Newcastle have the ball back.

Initially, they try to run it from inside their own in-goal area, before scrum-half Micky Young sends a box kick forward.

  20. Post update

    Exeter 16-0 Newcastle

It's just about the worst possible start to the second half for Newcastle, who try to run the ball from inside their own 22 before Sinoti Sinoti is pinged for holding on.

Exeter head to touch and are very much going for the kill...
