  1. Post update

Time to pull the covers across this live text and get some rest and relaxation ahead of a tough round of matches tomorrow.

We will see you all bright and early tomorrow.

  2. Post update

Right, which are the matches to get your teeth into away from the main courts yesterday?

Try a bit of Alexandr Dolgopolov v Kyle Edmund first on court Three.

Former finalist Agnieszka Radwanska against Lucie Hradecka third on court 12.

Or British number two Aljaz Bedene against Radek Stepanek last on court eight.

  3. Post update

Jerzy Janowicz - the Polish serve machine who made the semi-finals in 2013 - has not really followed up that run to the last four since.

He has been eliminated in the third round or before in every one of the Grand Slams he has competed in since.

And he is not going to go any further this time. Turkey's Marsel Ilhan has ousted him 7-6 (7-4) 6-4 6-7 (4-7) 6-3. Twenty-six aces on the board in that one.

  4. Post update

    John McEnroe

Three-time Wimbledon champion on BBC TV

On Liam Broady, who won earlier today: "Liam Broady has had difficult times with the parental thing and he has his sister who appears to be taller than him, which is upsetting for a brother!

"It was great to see him come back from two sets down, and win and that will be a huge boost for him and make him a believer. Next up is David Goffin, who is a great ball striker, he hits a sweet ball. Liam should be most worried about just recovering he went five sets where as Goffin won easily."

  5. Play suspended

    Watson 1-6 6-3 Garcia

But we will come back for a one-set shoot-out tomorrow.

A tournament official comes out to have a peer at the failing light. It is rather murky. He offers both players the veto - if either is unwilling to continue the match will be held over tomorrow.

It sounds like that Watson took that offer and so, to some grumbles from the court 12 crowd, they stride off.

They will be back on as the second match tomorrow.

  6. Game and second set

    Watson 1-6 6-3 Garcia

    Heather Watson

And Heather Watson is back to parity.

After an eyesore of an opening set, the 23-year-old fights back out of her corner like a tiger to take the second.

  7. Post update

    Watson 1-6 6-3 Garcia

Right, can Heather Watson serve out the second set to level things up against Caroline Garcia?

She has made a ropey old start, slipping 0-30 adrift.

  8. Post update

    John McEnroe

Three-time Wimbledon champion on Wimbledon 2Day

Speaking about Lleyton Hewitt's defeat earlier in the day in what was his final Wimbledon appearance: "The body gives out on you. Lleyton has had six or seven surgeries? Maybe more. He has the will and is a tremendous competitor - the all time best - but now the body can't take it."

  9. Post update

    Watson 1-6 5-2 Garcia

    Leon Smith

GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

"Heather Watson is a completely different player in this set. It's a great response and she's really got herself going. She's seeing things quicker and attacking and defending better.

"Garcia will be deep in thought to be 5-2 down in the second set. The crowd are now into the game, and Heather is feeding off that."

  10. Post update

    Watson 1-6 5-2 Garcia

    Marion Bartoli

2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC 5 live

"They may not be able to start a third set tonight if it goes into a decider, because of the light."

  11. Post update

    Watson 1-6 5-2 Garcia

Heather Watson could not have turned the tables on Caroline Garcia more effectively if she had a lazy susan built in.

She leads 5-2 and Garcia will need to hold serve next, then break, then hold again to get out of this pickle.

  12. Game, set and match

    Baghdatis 5-7 6-2 6-4 6-4 Young

    Baghdatis

Marcos Baghdatis, the salty old sea dog who conquered Andy Murray in the fourth round in 2006, has come through a tasty first-round match-up against Donald Young.

The Cypriot with trademark bandana in place, was at his Cap'n Jack best, grinning and gurning his way all the way through.

  13. Post update

    John McEnroe

Three-time Wimbledon champion on Wimbledon 2Day

"Novak Djokovic played well today. Make no mistake. His movement is so amazing, as is his court coverage and defence. It looked like he had the hardest draw before the tournament started but maybe it is opening up a bit."

  14. Post update

    Lindsay Davenport

1999 Wimbledon champion on Wimbledon 2Day

Reflecting on Novak Djokovic's straight-sets win over Philipp Kohlschreiber earlier today:

"The first match on grass is always so challenging for anybody. Philipp Kohlschreiber was the toughest guy anyone could play in the first round, but Novak Djokovic started to find his range and movement on the grass. He got more balanced as it went on and that made a difference."

  15. Post update

    Watson 1-6 4-1 Garcia

    Marion Bartoli

2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC 5 live

"It's amazing how much Garcia's level has dropped in the space of only five minutes. That's happened to her in the past, where she's struggled to maintain a high level throughout matches. If you look at Heather, her body language is so much better than in the first set."

  16. Game, set and match

    Stephens 6-4 6-2 Strycova

Unseeded American Sloane Stephens, a quarter-finalist in 2013, has put 27th seed Barbora Strycova out with a 6-4 6-2 victory.

She will be a dangerous floating threat in draw. She could play Lucie Safarova in the third round.

  17. Post update

    Watson 1-6 3-1 Garcia

Heather Watson is putting up a stiffer fight in the second set against Caroline Garica.

In fact, the British number one has just pilfered the Frenchwoman's serve for a 3-1 lead.

  18. Lleyton's farewell

    Lleyton Hewitt

Reflecting on his five-set defeat to Finland's Jarkko Nieminen, 2002 Wimbledon champion Lleyton Hewitt said: "I was always going to leave it all out there on the court. I gave everything I had, and had nothing left in the tank at the end.

"There were a couple of times the match could have got away from me, but I hung there. I'd have loved to play Novak Djokovic in the next round, so it's disappointing."

After his 17th and final singles appearance at the All England Club, the Australian added: "The crowd was fantastic, and if I was going to go out for a final time, I wouldn't have had it any other way."

  19. Post update

    Milos Raonic

Canadian Milos Raonic safely made it into the second round with a win over Daniel Gimeno-Traver.

He said on Twitter: "It was good to move on today and get the win. #BelieveinTheSleeve"

  20. History makers

    Broady 6-7 3-6 Duque Marino

    Liam and Naomi Broady

Naomi may have lost, but she played her part in a rare Wimbledon double act. With Liam Broady having played, and won, earlier today the pair became the first mixed siblings to appear in tandem at Wimbledon since Buster and Linda Mottram in 1978.

  21. Post update

    Watson 1-6 0-1 Garcia

    Leon Smith

GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

"Heather has to find a way not to be too passive against a big-hitter like Garcia.

"At the moment, apart from a brief passage of play in the middle of the first set, Garcia is being allowed to dictate things far too easily. She needs to be more aggressive and start applying as much pressure as possible to get Garcia moving more."

  22. Post update

    Watson 1-6 Garcia

  24. Post update

    Watson 1-6 Garcia

    Chris Bevan

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"The frustration continues for Heather Watson who is broken again after some more sloppy groundstrokes and takes it out on her racquet, which is sent bouncing to the back of court 12.

"The crowd attempt to lift her but Caroline Garcia quickly wraps up the first set, which is hers in just 27 minutes. I don't know if the long wait for her match affected Watson, or the late change from Court 12 but she is usually hard to beat and she has been far from that so far."

  25. Post update

    Watson 1-6 Garcia

    Marion Bartoli

2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC 5 live

"Heather isn't playing with enough intensity, she's too casual. There's just no intensity with her legs and she's not been in the match at all so far. She needs to quickly re-group for the second set"

  26. Game and first set

    Watson 1-6 Garcia

I thought that Heather Watson against Caroline Garcia might stretch late into the evening.

So far, it might be over in time for dinner. And not for any happy reasons for a British point of view.

  27. Post update

    Broady 6-7 3-6 Duque Marino

    Andrew Castle

    BBC tennis commentator

"Disappointment for Naomi Broady. She had a set point in that first set, how different it could have been - she threw everything at it."

  28. Post update

    Safarova 3-6 7-5 6-3 Riske

Lucie Safarova has taken a look over the abyss, decided actually she quite enjoyed her run to last year's semi-finals and wants to stick around a little longer this.

She has recovered from a set down to overhaul Alison Riske and make the second round.

  29. Post update

    Watson 1-4 Garcia

    Marion Bartoli

2013 Wimbledon champion on BBC 5 live

"Heather Watson really must serve harder. Serving at 82 miles per hour is not good enough at this level. She seems to feel the ball isn't coming out of her racket properly. Maybe she's feeling the nerves of a home Grand Slam."

  30. Post update

    Watson 1-4 Garcia

    Leon Smith

GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Radio 5 live

"It's a tough start for Heather. She isn't getting enough first serves in, and add to that the fact that Garcia is serving well, it's causing Heather some problems in this first set."

  31. Post update

    Watson 1-4 Garcia

    Chris Bevan

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Heather Watson cannot get to grips with Caroline Garcia's serve and the rather subdued atmosphere on court 12 reflects the sluggish start made by the British number one, who was broken in her first service game and is very much on the backfoot already.

"Still, Watson is well known for her tenacious attitude so let's not write her off just yet."

  32. Post update

    Dimitrov 6-3 6-0 6-4 Delbonis

Grigor Dimitrov is a very stylish man and a 6-3 6-0 6-4 dispatching of Federico Delbonis is a good look for summer 2015.

  33. Post update

    Watson 1-3 Garcia

Heather Watson has coughed up her serve at the first time of asking out on court 12.

The British number trails 3-1 against France's Caroline Garcia.

Greg Rusedski is in the crowd to support Watson, sitting alongside her Argentine coach Diego Veronelli.

  34. Naomi Broady out

    Broady 6-7 3-6 Duque Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Moment of concern for Mariana Duque-Marino while serving for the match. She crumbles to the lush court-three turf after failing to reach an accurate Broady return.

"One of the Colombian supporters jumps to her feet and shouts something in her native tongue as the rest of concerned crowd fall silent.

"The rest of the Spanish-speakers laugh heartily. I'm none the wiser.

"Anyway she regains her feet - but not her composure as she double faults on match point.

"Not for long. Cute drop-shot and a clinical volley completes the job in one hour and 27 minutes."

  35. Game, set and match

    Broady 6-7 3-6 Duque Marino

A double fault on the first match point, but there is no get out of jail free card for Naomi Broady on the second.

Mariana Duque-Marino lures her in with a drop-shot and then pats the reply back past her with a forehand volley to win the final point of the match.

  36. Post update

    Broady 6-7 3-5 Duque Marino

Mariana Duque-Marino breaks serve for a 5-3 lead in the second set and suddenly she has the chance to serve for the match against Naomi Broady.

  37. Post update

Maria Sharapova wants to put a few more miles into her legs after beating Britain's Johanna Konta 6-2 6-2 in an hour and 22 minutes.

She said on Twitter: After a good start to Wimbledon, finishing off the day with a good run in the park #Wimbledon2015

    Maria Sharapova
  38. Post update

    Broady 6-7 3-4 Duque Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Those thinking of leaving court three for the train home have just thought the better of it.

"An ear-splitting roar rings around the now shade-filled arena as British number three Naomi Broady wipes out her Colombian opponent Mariana Duque-Marino's break at the first opportunity. More follow as the 25-year-old holds her serve easily.

"Stay tuned folks - this could be more exciting than tonight's Eastenders..."

    Naomi Broady serves
  39. Post update

    Chris Bevan

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Seating is unreserved on court 12, where British number one Heather Watson has just had her match moved to, but be quick - it is filling up rapidly. Watson and French 32nd seed Caroline Garcia are warming up in what is left of the sunshine."

I reckon that Watson could take us all the way to dusk if she is in stubborn mood.

  40. Post update

    Broady 6-7 1-3 Duque Marino

    Virginia Wade

1977 Wimbledon champion on BBC Sport

"I think any of these players might be excused for being a little bit fatigued at this stage, not for the heat, but the nervous tension, especially for the British girl. It takes its toll."

  41. Post update

    Broady 6-7 1-3 Duque-Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"One of our Colombian friends shows her English language skills with a strategically-planned 'Come on Mariana' just ahead of that pivotal deuce on Broady's serve.

"The British fans respond in almost unison with several Broady-boosting ripostes.

"But it doesn't help the home favourite. Duque-Marino nabs the first break of the second set at the fifth opportunity.

"Broady's 22 unforced errors to her opponent's 12 pretty much tell the story..."

  42. Post update

    Dimitrov 6-3 6-0 1-2 Delbonis

Grigor Dimitrov has signed for the second set out on Court One against Federico Delbonis.

Meanwhile Sloane Stephens whips a forehand winner down the line to keep the first set of her encounter with Barbora Strycova on serve at 4-3.

  43. More from British winner Broady

    Liam Broady

Liam Broady on Instagram following his five-set win today:

"What an atmosphere. Mats Wilander told me it's the loudest he's ever heard court 18 so thank you to everyone for the support. Goffin on Wednesday and hoping for the same support again! #unforgettable #goosebumps #MuchAppreciated."

  44. Post update

    Herbert 1-6 6-2 3-6 6-2 10-8 Chung

If someone hasn't already dubbed this Five-Set Monday, then I shall. Out on 10, France's Pierre-Hugues Herbert (pronounced 'Air Bear') has finally seen off the challenge of South Korea's Hyeon Chung in a old-fashioned ding-donger. Chapeau, Air Bear.

  45. Post update

    Broady 6-7 1-2 Duque-Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"One of the greatest things about sport is seeing the wave of emotions of those involved - whether it is unbridled joy or total despair.

"At the moment, Naomi Broady's actions seem to indicate the latter.

"After most of the points in this second set, the 25-year-old British number three turns to the green canvas behind, mutters something to herself and stares at/slaps her strings.

"An emotional release worked a treat for brother Liam earlier - he received a violation for a swear outburst. Maybe it will do the trick for his sister."

    Strycova 3-1 Stephens

World no.37 Sloane Stephens an early break down to Barbara Strycova, eight places ahead of her in the rankings. A decent number of seats taken around Centre for this late mover from the outside courts, many of them veterans of the queue who are delighted to have made it in.

  48. Post update

    Dimitrov 6-3 4-0 Delbonis

    Grigor Dimitrov

Easy pickings for last year's semi-finalist Grigor Dimitrov on No.1, as he moves into a commanding second set lead against Argentina's Federico Delbonis. The man who knocked out Andy Murray in the quarter-finals a year ago is out at 11 in the seedings but he's looking good for Wednesday's second round.

    Broady 6-7 (5-7) Duque-Marino

Into the 'breaker on Court Three, as we seek one of the great days in Broady family history. But a poor backhand drop shot on set point down limps into the net, and Duque-Marino has pocketed the first set.

  51. Serena on the 'Serena Slam'

Reflecting on her 6-4, 6-1 victory over Russia's Margarita Gasparyan, Serena Williams told BBC Radio 5 live: "People keep asking about the Grand Slam and the 'Serena Slam'. I've never really thought about the Grand Slam of tournaments, but that would be the ultimate dream."

  52. Post update

    Broady 6-5 Duque-Marino

    Andrew Castle

    BBC tennis commentator

"That's a good response after the disappointment of losing a set point the previous game. Broady is playing well here."

    Naomi Broady
  53. Post update

    Broady 6-5 Duque-Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"Two women sat in the court three sun are decked out in the Colombian national colour of yellow, blue and red - yes, they are supporting Mariana Duque-Marino. But they are outnumbered by about a few hundred to one.

"The South American pair whoop as British number three Naomi Broady sees a set point go begging when she overcooks return. Then, cheer again when their player fights back to win in deuce.

"The rest of crowd groan. Nicely poised though."

  54. Post update

The Centre Court crowd have been lobbed another tasty morsel from the referee's office.

Sloane Stephens v Barbora Strycova has been shunted onto the main stage.

  55. Post update

    Wawrinka 6-2 7-5 7-6 (7-3) Sousa

    Stan Wawrinka

Stan Wawrinka told BBC Radio 5 live: "It was a great start and I'm happy to win the first match here. The most important thing is to get through and I'll continue to work at my game. Winning the French Open has given me a lot of confidence for sure, but everyone starts from zero in this tournament. I'm going to rest up and be ready for the next game.

"I'm playing some of the best tennis of my career, every piece of the puzzle is fitting together and hopefully there's still more to come from me."

  56. Post update

    Wawrinka 6-2 7-5 7-6 (7-3) Sousa

    Richard Krajicek

1996 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"I don't think many of Stan's opponents are going to be hunting out the DVD of this performance to see how well he's played, because he hasn't.

"But that doesn't really matter as long as he progresses. I think he'll be at a much higher level by the time he reaches the latter part of the tournament."

  57. Post update

    Broady 5-4 Duque-Marino

Great Britain Federation Cup captain Judy Murray is one of those in the crowd watching Naomi Broady on court three.

Broady dusts off a service game to love to impress the boss.

    Broady 4-4 Duque-Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

    Court three

"In a less bright part of the UK (or world) and don't believe that it is 'scorch' in SW19? A pair of sun-shy couples on the court three crowd tell you otherwise.

"And the action on the grass is pretty hot too.

"Both British number three Naomi Broady - the 6ft 2in tall blonde with a booming serve - and her nimble Colombian opponent both hold serves in the opening four games.

"The empty seats are filling up pretty quickly, not much Wimbledon green to be seen now."

  59. Game, set and match

    Wawrinka 6-2 7-5 7-6 (7-3) Sousa

Stan Wawrinka clubs his way through the third-set tie-break to take it 7-3, along with victory.

That was all very smooth sailing.

  60. Post update

    Novak Djokovic

World number one and defending champion Novak Djokovic has been speaking to the BBC after his win against Philipp Kohlschreiber and was asked why he was so animated following the win.

"I knew the quality of my opposition. I really don't take anything for granted. I try to respect everybody it's a win and I try to celebrate it," he said.

"I think the fact that last time I played - at the Roland Garros final - I lost means I still feel traces of that. I needed to feel good after that."

The Serb also said he thinks the controversy surrounding allegations of on-court coaching between the world number one and his coach Boris Becker has been blown out of proportion.

"I think so, but who am I to judge that. There are people who know better and I will leave the speculation to them. I would like to close this here.

"There is nothing I am hiding.

"I think the next match there will be a secret agent sat next to Boris, but we are doing what the majority of other players and coaches are doing."

  61. Post update

    Duque-Marino 2-3 Broady

    Andrew Castle

    BBC tennis commentator

"The delight of watching a match like this is that it is not a match between superstars, not a match where the prize money means nothing. This is the real deal, this is Wimbledon."

  62. Post update

    Wawrinka 6-2 7-5 5-6 Sousa

    Richard Krajicek

1996 Wimbledon champion on BBC Radio 5 live

"Wawrinka has been holding his thigh. He looks a bit stiff, tired and sore from his performances at the French Open. It looks like he's trying to save himself for future games in this tournament."

  64. Can Naomi join brother Liam in round two?

    Broady v Duque-Marino

    Jonathan Jurejko

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

"The Wimbledon sun might be fading - but the interest in the British representatives certainly isn't.

"And it's a Briton by the name of Broady who is hoping to give the home fans something to cheer.

    Naomi Broady

"Not Liam who, of course, created headlines earlier by winning in five sets on his Grand Slam singles debut.

"Everyone is here to see if his sister Naomi can make it a memorable family double by beating Colombia's Mariana Duque-Marino.

"Still plenty of sunglasses and protective lotion in the SW19 air as the pair knock up ahead of their first-round tie."

  65. Post update

    Dimitrov 3-2 Delbonis

Grigor Dimitrov was the man who ended Andy Murray's title defence last year with an eerily comfortable straight-sets quarter-final win over the Scot in front of a bemused Centre Court.

The Bulgarian has not quite followed up that win. Some expected him to be a regular fixture at the sharp end of the biggest events.

Instead he has yet to reach a final this year and was comfortably seen off by Andy Murray when they met again at the Australian Open at the start of the year.

He is mid-way through the first set against Argentina's Federico Delbonis.

  67. Tuesday's order of play

The order of play has landed, hot and sweaty off the referee's office printer.

Andy Murray has third use of Centre Court - so, best guess, will be on court at around 16:00 BST in his match against Mikhail Kukushkin.

Women's champion Petra Kvitova gets things up and running on Centre Court with Roger Federer to follow against Bosnia's Damir Dzumhur.

Rafael Nadal is first on Court One against Thomaz Bellucci.

  68. Post update

    Wawrinka 6-2 7-5 2-2 Sousa

    Centre Court

The shadows are creeping longer and longer on Centre Court.

There are a fair few green seats appearing among the sea of fedoras and pastel colours.

That is testament to Stan Wawrinka's efficiency. The French Open champion is constricting the life out of Joao Sousa on the main stage.

  69. Nishikori through to second round

Kei Nishikori on BBC Two: "I'm very happy to win the match. He's a tough player on grass - we played five sets last year.

"My leg should be OK. It was a little bit sore last week, but it's getting better. It wasn't easy to play three hours."

  70. Post update
