...Hello Tuesday

The womens' quarter-finals are coming 'atcha like Cleopatra tomorrrow.

Serena Williams will take on Russian Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, while fourth and fifth seeds Angelique Kerber and Simona Halep collide.

Dominika Cibulkova and Venus Williams will also be out there and swinging hard.

It is going to get ugly, but beautiful at the same time.

See you there.

Farewell Monday...

A decent day without quite turning into the classic we had hoped for - straight sets wins on Centre for Andy Murray, Serena Williams and Roger Federer, injury withdrawals from Richard Gasquet and Kei Nishikori, impressive wins for Dominika Cibulkova and Elena Vesina.

Remain focused and solid - Murray

Murray 7-5 6-1 6-4 Kyrgios

Andy Murray on BBC One: "The first set was very tight. I managed to get the break at 6-5 but it was tight up to that point. The second set was much more comfortable, Nick lost his focus a bit. I was able to dictate a lot of the rallies.

"Every year I play here it's the same, it's not any different this year. I try my best to win my matches and go as deep as possible.

"The matches, as you progress, get tougher. Tsonga is next who is a tough grass court player and I'll have to play very well to win that one.

"You can learn from the matches that you've played against him, but every match is different in an individual sport. if you put in a bad performance you can easily lose so I need to concentrate on my own form. if I remain as solid and as focused as today then i'll have a chance."

Game and second set Vesely

Vesely 6-4 3-6 Berdych

Tomas Berdych snatches up the second set in his meeting with Czech compatriot Jiri Vesely.

Those two are competing to face Lucas Pouille in the last eight.

Watch Gasquet retire due to injury

Gasquet 2-4 Tsonga

Richard Gasquet is out of Wimbledon in unfortunate circumstances after succumbing to a back injury in the first set against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, who will now play Andy Murray in the quarter-finals.

Kyrgios has got a lot of thinking to do and a lot of work to do.

I think this would be an important time for his parents to look him the eye and people like Lleyton Hewitt, these are the people who have got to force him to look in the mirror.

Magical Murray

Well, we expected a humdinger, the most thrilling of examinations, and Murray has instead turned it into a stroll. Superlative from the Briton, and if there was anyone unsure why this man is white-hot favourite with the bookies for a second gentlemen's singles title, the last hour and three-quarters will surely have persuaded them.

Game, set and match

Murray 7-5 6-1 6-4

Kyrgios with a grumpy forehand wide, Murray with a zinger on to the line. Two match points. Serve out wide - ace!

Murray has got lucky but has been really really good.

The outcome has never been in doubt here.

* Murray 7-5 6-1 5-4 Kyrgios

Kyrgios with a weary backhand long, and a mere one hour 36 minutes in we have our first match point. Not this time - big serve, in for the volley, slaps it away. Oh, what a return from Murray, from way out wide on his forehand, caressed cross-court past Kyrgios's dripping nose. He'll hang on this time as Murray goes long this time, and Murray will serve for the match.

Kyrgios came out focused, looked to be playing well, served big but got tight and played some loose shots.

This is not doing our sport any good. This is Wimbledon Centre court, you have got to give 110 per cent to get back into it.

Murray 7-5 6-1 5-3 Kyrgios *

On the other hand, he has appeared to collapse after one bad volley. A volley that cost him the first set, but why should it cost him all belief in the second and third too? Why make it easier for an opponent already finding it easy? Murray holds to love once again, and he's now just one game away from the quarter-finals.

* Murray 7-5 6-1 4-3 Kyrgios

Let's try to look at this from the kid's perspective. He served with fearsome power in the first set, he was moving well, he was hitting his forehand with alacrity. None of it made any difference. What else can he do?

Murray in complete control, cruising with the top down, enjoying the view. Hold to love, Kyrgios merely the scenery, a fast-fading stooge, a man going down the gurgler.

Kyrgios' forehand generally is too short. He doesn't do enough with it.

Suspect the queues at the various bars around the Wimbledon grounds are about to get a whole lot busier.

With Andy Murray in charge, some spectators are lining up a livener already.

An hour and 23 minutes gone, and Murray still fresh as a dew-kissed daisy - he's yet to lose a set in this tournament, and if the same can be said of Roger Federer, Murray is playing at such an exalted level that he will fear not even the greatest.

First set Vesely

Vesely 6-4 Berdych

Tenth out of the hat, Tomas Berdych is the highest seed left as possible semi-final opposition for Andy Murray.

The Czech has just shipped the first set against compatriot Jiri Vesely though.

As it stands, Murray would face either Lucas Pouille or Vesely - ranked 30th and 64th in the world respectively - in the semi-finals should he beat Jo-Wilfried Tsonga in the quarters.

Give credit to Murray because he has gotten into his head and it doesn't look like Kyrgios wants to be out there.

* Murray 7-5 6-1 2-1 Kyrgios

Murray on fire, the flames visible across the country - forehand hammered cross-court, now another, the angles and pace and vision from the gods. 0-30. Horrible forehand wide from NK, three break points. Ace saves one. Forehand into the corner saves the second. Fiery return, Kyrgios forced wide, spaces behind him, Murray kissing away the winner. Break, beautiful break.

Sensational backhand sliced drop-shot from Murray, made from wide and deep and with Kyrgios chasing in, the ball biting the turf and dying the quickest of deaths. Oh, he's opening the toy cupboard now, a dreamy top-spin lob that teases Kyrgios as it parabolas over his head, and now a forehand sliced stopper.

Game set and match Pouille

Tomic 4-6 6-4 6-3 4-6 8-10 Pouille

Twenty-two year-old Frenchman Lucas Pouille has never been beyond the second round of a Grand Slam before.

But the world number 30 is getting a taste of the business end of the one of the majors this year as he advances past Bernard to face either Jiri Vesely or Tomas Berdych in the last eight.

Game and second set

Murray 7-5 6-1 Kyrgios *

Murray playing very, very well, it has to be said - a study in concentration, a masterclass in tactical play, a clinic in grass-court groundstrokes. Ace, ace, set in the bag in just 26 minutes. One set away from a quarter-final on Wednesday against Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.

When he goes, he really goes. Krygios can't see how he can get back into this, and as a result he's checked out mentally. Broken again, the set slipping away, the match following suit at pace.

Gasquet 2-4 Tsonga

Richard Gasquet is forced from the court after just 25 minutes of his meeting with fellow Frenchman Jo-Wilfried after tweaking his back.

Tsonga - who faced match point against John Isner in the third round - awaits the winner of Murray v Gasquet in the next round.

By the by, Murray leads their head to head 12-3.

Right now mentally Kyrgios is not even on the court. He's just snapped.

How long will it take him to get back?

The Aussie fading fast, the frustration showing in every exchange. This time it's an unwarranted and unsuccessful forehand that wouldn't have made it into a second court. Murray scooping in the chips and cashing 'em in.
