  1. Bye for now

Thanks for your support as well as we go into the night New York time and into the early morning UK time.

You can look back on today's action via our round-up just over here.

See you tomorrow for the men's last four with Novak Djokovic taking on Gael Monfils and Stan Wawrinka facing Kei Nishikori.

  2. Kerber to face Pliskova in the final

Angelique Kerber speaking on court: "It is just incredible, it is a great day. I was trying to focus on this match because i know that Caroline is a great player. It sounds unbelievable though to be world number one, thanks for your support."

  3. Game, set and match

    Wozniacki 4-6 3-6 Kerber

The match ends on a bit of a bum note as Caroline Wozniacki mistakenly pulls out of forehand on the baseline, thinking that Angelique Kerber has strayed long.

She fought valiantly but she was just did not have the same form and quality as her opponent.

    Angelique Kerber
  4. Wozniacki breaks

    *Wozniacki 4-6 3-5 Kerber

It is lucky for her that Angelique Kerber has that spare break in the boot.

She is broken to love after double faulting to 0-40.

  5. Post update

    Wozniacki 4-6 2-5 *Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki holds serve to love.

But Angelique Kerber is keeping her powder dry.

He has two shots to serve out and has only been broken once in the rest of the match so far.

  6. Kerber holds

    *Wozniacki 4-6 1-5 Kerber

    Ding!

This match looks like it might just be done.

Angelique Kerber hits a razor-sharp cross-court pass to see off a spirited Caroline Wozniacki to thirty.

It is going to be a Lazarus-level comeback if Wozniacki is to make the final now.

  7. Kerber breaks

    Wozniacki 4-6 1-4 *Kerber

A superb point, full of dash and dart, ends with Kerber coolly selecting the killer angle.

The match in a microcosm. Both players laying down loads of shoe rubber, but it is Kerber who has the added class to make it stick.

She breaks and is now just two games from her third Grand Slam final of the year.

    Angelique Kerber
  8. Post update

    *Wozniacki 4-6 1-3 Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki works up 0-30. Could this be the return ticket back into the set?

A big Angelique Kerber serve knocks her back to 15-30.

But here is a look at a second serve...

Wozniacki thumps down the line, Kerber is nowhere, but relieved to hear the cry of 'out!' from the line judge.

So a matter of milimetres turns would have been 15-40 to 30-30. Kerber makes her getaway from that halfway house.

  9. Post update

    Wozniacki 4-6 1-2 *Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki is being made to work for every point.

But she has never been short of graft and her application finally outweighs Kerber's consistency.

    Caroline Wozniacki
  10. Post update

    *Wozniacki 4-6 0-2 Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki gets to 40-30 as she searches for the immediate counter punch.

    That is wasteful though.

She dumps a very-makeable return into the top of the net to let Kerber off the hook.

    Caroline Wozniacki
  11. Kerber breaks

    Wozniacki 4-6 0-1 *Kerber

Angelique Kerber is hustling like a backstreet pool shark.

She refuses to let Caroline Wozniacki out of an arm-wrestle of a game with her serve intact.

She makes the early inroads into the scoreboard once again, just as she did in the first.

  12. Game and first set

    *Wozniacki 4-6 Kerber

Angelique Kerber signs off on a first set that was in danger of getting out of hand despite her commanding start.

There does not look there is a lot of love lost between these two. Some frosty looks and meaningful celebrations from Angelique Kerber who has been irked by something from Wozniacki's players box.

    Angelique Kerber
  13. Wozniacki holds

    Wozniacki 4-5 *Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki gets the stay of execution that her brave hitting deserves.

But now she will have to steal Angelique Kerber's serve to keep her hand in this opener.

    Caroline Wozniacki
  14. Wozniacki saves two set points, deuce

    *Wozniacki 3-5 Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki faces down a set point with a bold forehand across court.

The Dane looked like she couldn't punch her way out of a paper bag in the first three games, but she has started to find the centre of the strings now.

Two can play that game though. Kerber wallops away a winner down the line with a squeal of delight to set up a second set point.

Again Wozniacki knocks her back with glorious full-blooded hitting.

    Cracking stuff.

  15. Post update

    *Wozniacki 3-5 Kerber

Angelique Kerber keeps a lid on the resurgent Caroline Wozniacki with a solid service hold.

The Dane has to hold in the next game to keep her cards on the table.

    Angelique Kerber
  16. Post update

    Wozniacki 3-4 *Kerber

Angelique Kerber is not a happy bunny.

She had a quick moan to the umpire at the change of ends about some of the running commentary being offered from Wozniacki's half of the players' box.

As her opponent holds to move within one game of her on the scoreboard, Kerber sarcastically applauds with palm on string.

This could get feisty. And fast.

  17. Wozniacki breaks

    *Wozniacki 2-4 Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki has found another gear, hitting from the back of the court with more pace and purpose.

A crunching backhand return down the line helps her to two break points at 15-40.

Kerber rams a superb forehand down the line to see off the first. But it is all in vain though as she double faults to hand back one the breaks she collected in the early part of the set.

    Caroline Wozniacki
  18. Wozniacki on the board

    Wozniacki 1-4 *Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki is having to patch together a Plan B on the hoof.

She cannot stick to the baseline and just wait for the killer blow from Kerber, because the German is landing with the force of a grand piano from the top floor and and accuracy of a Wild West sharpshooter.

She presses to the net instead to try and take the initiative and manages to see off two break points and get on the board.

Is it a tactic she can pull off for a whole match though?

  19. Post update

    *Wozniacki 0-4 Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki is sliding towards the first-set cat-flap at an alarming rate.

She is still unable to get a toe-hold.

Kerber has won 17 points to five so far in the match.

    Caroline Wozniacki
  20. Kerber breaks

    Wozniacki 0-3 *Kerber

Caroline Wozniacki saves two break points to fight back to deuce from 15-40 adrift, but Angelique Kerber has the power and consistency to tenderise her opponent like flank steak.

Pummeling groundstrokes pull Wozniacki this way and that and eventually draw a fatal mistake as the Dane's defence is ground down to dust.
