  1. Post update

We're just about done on this page for day one of Wimbledon.

There are still three matches still in play at SW19. You'll find the live streams right here.

    Until tomorrow...

  2. Watch day one's quirkier moments

Here's some of the day's lighter moments in one tidy package.

  3. Game, set and match - Suarez Navarro

    Suarez Navarro 1-6 6-1 6-1 Eugenie Bouchard

Despite losing the first set 6-1, Spain's 25th seed Carla Suarez Navarro has come roaring back, taking the next two sets by the same margin to beat Canada's Eugenie Bouchard.

A second first round exit for Bouchard, whose run to the 2014 final seems an age ago.

  4. Day one headlines

A lot has happened since 11:30 this morning.

    Here's a recap:

  5. Game, set and match - Azarenka

    Azarenka 3-6 6-2 6-1 Bellis

Great scrambling from Bellis at 30-15 down on Azarenka's serve to stay in the point but finally the world number one puts it away to set up her first match point.

One and done. The American fires a backhand long and the two-time Australian Open champion wins her first grand slam match since giving birth in December.

Hugely impressive after shipping the first set. Find a bit more form in round two (and beyond) and she could be a contender for the title.

  7. Azarenka serving for the match

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-2 5-1 Bellis

Just as Bellis looked to be roaring back, Azarenka checks her charge, finding another level to take it to deuce and finally break the American.

Just a matter of time now?

  8. Watch Bedene's winning moment

After four and a half hours, the battle between Aljaz Bedene and Ivo Karlovic finally ended. And it was Bedene's moment after a couple of amazing returns.

  10. Bellis breaks back

    Azarenka 3-6 6-2 4-1 Bellis*

People have homes to go to, Catherine.

I'm kidding of course. Hugely impressive response by Bellis to break back in this deciding set, just as Azarenka looked ready to run away with proceedings.

An absolutely belting forehand winner to complete the break too.

  11. Post update

    *Azarenka 3-6 6-2 4-0 Bellis

Azarenka is raging against the dying of the light on Court One.

She's won four straight games now in the third and deciding set.

The dark is of more threat to her progress tonight than Bellis. They should be able to play to a conclusion, though.

  12. Watch Karlovic almost hit line judge

Watch Ivo Karlovic's ace that almost caught a line judge in the face.

Matt Baker: YEEEEEEESSSSSSSSS!!!! Aljaz Bedene you are legend, won it in 5 sets, 4 hours plus. This. Is. #Wimbledon.

Mark Porteous: What a performance by Bedene. Brilliant. What a match.

Simon Holman: Wow! Aljaz has made his Bedene and slept in it.

  14. Post update

    Azarenka 3-6 6-2 2-0 Bellis

Azarenka's class starting to tell here as she breaks Bellis to take the first two games of this deciding set.

Canada's Eugenie Bouchard, a finalist in 2014, has also been taken into a deciding set by Spain's 25th seed Carla Suarez Navarro after both won their respective sets 6-1.

    A long night continues.

  15. Game, set and match

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7) 6-7 (7-9) 6-8 Bedene

    Aljaz Bedene, take a bow.

The British number three somehow finds two brilliant returns to snatch the victory after four and a half hours on court.

That was the first break of serve in the entire contest. Remarkable!

  16. Post update

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7) 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 Bedene*

What a shot from Bedene! A stunning return of serve across the grass.

Match point! Match point! Match point!

  17. Post update

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7) 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 Bedene*

Breakthrough? Aljaz Bedene is 15-30 up. Two more points and the match is his.

But no. Here comes Ivo Karlovic again, with his massive serve, to recover.

    We go to deuce.

    Ivo Karlovic
  18. On, and on, and on

    Karlovic 7-6 (7-5) 6-7 (6-8) 7-6 (9-7) 6-7 (7-9) 6-7 Bedene

    Chris Bevan

    BBC Sport at Wimbledon

It's not just Aljaz Bedene and Ivo Karlovic who look grimly determined to see this match through - you should see the faces of some of the crowd who have been sitting here watching this serving contest for the past four hours.

The girls who tried to start that "come on Ali, come on" chant at about 5pm are long gone - probably somewhere on the District Line. Some people are still cheering aces but, when you have seen more than 60 of them at an average of more than one a game, the novelty surely starts to wear off?

  19. Game and second set - Azarenka

    Azarenka 3-6 6-2 Bellis

Chance for Azarenka to take this second set on Bellis' serve at 15-30 but an ugly-looking shot falls far long. And again.

Bellis at, she can't take it as Azarenka works her around the court well to go to deuce.

Advantage Bellis. Then deuce again. Then a sublime cross-court forehand winner from Azarenka to tee up set point.

Brilliant defence from Bellis with a dipping shot to save it. Azarenka comes again though, with a well-placed winner into the corner before Bellis bangs one long to lose the second set.
