That ends the text part of this live page but you can still watch action from the Gilles Simon versus James Ward match by pressing the play button at the top of this page or on the BBC Red Button. Bye for now.

  2. 'One heck of a performance'

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 4-6 Anderson

    John Lloyd

Former GB Davis Cup captain on BBC Two

Cameron played really well. Credit to Kevin Anderson, who only lost one point on his serve in that last set.

Cameron looks a total professional and looks like he belongs in this company. I thought he put in one heck of performance and hopefully he starts to get some decent draws.

  3. 'Fantastic to be back'

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 4-6 Anderson

Match-winner Kevin Anderson, who has had an injury-hit season because of a 'golfer's elbow' injury, tells BBC Sport: "It feels fantastic to be back. It's always difficult to miss tournaments, it's been a tough year, but there has been a lot of time and effort put in to get me back out there.

"Cameron is a very tough opponent and I thought it was a very tough, good match."

On his injury: "It's hitting too many serves, but just an injury when you're in agony, but I'm really pleased with how I served.

"It feels good now, and it held up well today with a long three-set match. I found a nice rhythm and on the grass that helps."

  4. BreakingGame, set and match - Anderson

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 4-6 Anderson

This serve is too good, Cameron Norrie can't get it back in play and that is the match done.

Norrie took the opening set and the second went to a tie-break but it is the South African who advances and Norrie is eliminated.

There are still many, many positives from Norrie from that one against a far-more experienced player.

  5. Post update

Anderson thinks he has won it with an ace but computer says 'no'. Norrie, at the net, punches away a neat volley winner, but Anderson still has another match point.

  6. Post update

The Anderson serve, though, is just too good. He gets Norrie in all sorts of trouble with a fast and hard serve out wide and it is not long before Anderson volleys a winner away. Two match points.

  7. Post update

Norrie is not going down without a fight, a fine winner down the line. 30-15.

  8. Post update

The pair trade some brutal forehands, before Anderson dispatches his. 30-0.

  9. Post update

Anderson gets Norrie running around the court, but to no avail. 15-0. Three points from the win.

  10. Post update

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 4-5 Anderson*

Norrie does all he can, holding to love, with Anderson now serving for the match. This has been a hugely impressive performance from the young Brit, but he must break now or he's out.

  11. Anderson one game from the win

    *Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 3-5 Anderson

It's now or never for Cameron Norrie. No more second chances. He needs to be flawless from here on.

  12. Post update

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 3-4 Anderson*

Anderson, serving at 135mph to start us off, then treats us to a joyful passing shot. 30-0.

  13. Post update

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 3-4 Anderson*

Every point that Cameron Norrie wins is met by loud applause by this Queen's crowd. It helps him hold his serve but he is going to need a super-human effort to break the serve of the 6ft 8in Anderson.

  14. Post update

    *Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 2-4 Anderson

A brutal service hold for Anderson, to love, and he has a two-game lead, needing two more to end the brave Briton's challenge.

  15. Anderson breaks

    Norrie 6-4 6-7 (5-7) 2-3 Anderson*

Norrie has just saved one break point and instantly has to deal with another one.

It looks like Norrie has gone long and, after a Hawk-Eye review, it's bad news for the Brit. He's now a break down and in a lot of trouble against the second seed.

  20. 'So happy to be back on home soil'

    Kontaveit 4-6 2-6 Konta

Some quotes from Johanna Konta, who says: "I'm so happy to be back on home soil and to be in front of you guys again. I'm so pleased to get started on the grass, this is a such a privileged time for the Brits so I'm happy.

"I had a few days off, did not get too much practice on the grass because of the weather, then I got back into training."

Asked about missing the tournament in Nottingham last week, she adds: "It had to happen, I had played a lot of matches in the last month and needed to give the body a rest. I'd like to play a lot of matches on this court so I will be doing everything I can."
