  1. Goodbye

But that is it from me for today.

Unfortunately Dan Evans' US Open is over but we'll be back tomorrow to see if British teenager Emma Raducanu can continue her stunning campaign in New York against American Shelby Rogers.

Novak Djokovic will also be aiming to keep his hopes of a calendar Grand Slam alive on Monday. It's not one to be missed.

    Catch you then!

  2. Still to come today...

BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

That fourth round match between Kerber and Fernandez is just getting started on Louis Armstrong Stadium.

You can stay on this page to follow live coverage of that one on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra.

Later, American Frances Tiafoe meets Canada's Felix Auger-Aliassime in the night session on Arthur Ashe, before Barbora Krejcikova takes on Garbine Muguruza.

Elsewhere, women's second seed Aryna Sabalenka faces Elise Mertens and Spanish teenager Carlos Alcaraz is up against Peter Gojowczyk.

    Angelique Kerber
  3. What's happened on day seven?

So, Dan Evans is out of the 2021 US Open. He gave it his all but world number two Daniil Medvedev was just too good on the day.

Medvedev will meet Dutch qualifier Botic van de Zandschulp in the quarter-finals, after he defeated 11th seed Diego Schwartzman in five sets.

Elsewhere, in the women's draw, Ukrainian fifth seed Elina Svitolina is into the last eight after beating Simona Halep in straight sets.

It'll be Angelique Kerber or Canadian teenager Leylah Fernandez for her in the quarters.

  4. 'I want to make the final again'

    Evans 3-6 4-6 3-6 Medvedev

Here's a bit of what Daniil Medvedev had to say following his win.

Asked about the feeling he gets at the US Open, where he reached the final in 2019, he said:

"I played a few matches after that final already. Last year when I came back, it was without the fans but there were still some goosebumps and memories.

"I just want to make it to the final again to make some more memories - and hopefully a better one [this time]."

    Naomi Broady

British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

Evans didn't do much wrong throughout the entire match. He did his best to disturb and disrupt Medvedev's rhythm, but how good was Medvedev today? He is so entertaining to watch.

  6. Post update

    Russell Fuller

Tennis correspondent on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

A spectacular performance by Daniil Medvedev, underlining why he is rightly considered the biggest thread to Novak Djokovic's bid for a career Grand Slam.

  7. Post update

    Naomi Broady

British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

This has just been too much of a task, in the end, for Dan Evans. Medvedev has been incredible this evening.

  8. Game, set and match - Medvedev

    Evans 3-6 4-6 3-6 Medvedev

    A stunning display.

Daniil Medvedev marches on, once again in straight sets.

Dan Evans' best ever US Open run comes to an end.

  9. Match points Medvedev

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 3-5 Medvedev

And it looks like that will be Daniil Medvedev.

    Three match points.

  11. Post update

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 3-5 Medvedev

Evans can only get the ball back in play and watch as Medvedev coasts in to volley home.

The stunning serving continues from the Russian who is still yet to lose a point on serve in the third set. Unreal.

He's one game away from the quarter-finals.

  12. Post update

    Evans 3-6 4-6 3-4 Medvedev*

An important smash is good from Evans, who edges clear at 40-30. Medvedev then miscues on a smash of his own and that's job done for the Briton.

  13. Post update

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 2-4 Medvedev

So. Good. Medvedev lures Evans in to the net with a drop shot before curving a forehand down the line - that after the Briton did very well just to deflect the ball back in play.

It's a quick turnaround from there, as the Russian rattles through three more quick points. 4-2.

  14. Post update

    Evans 3-6 4-6 2-3 Medvedev*

There's never been a question of Dan Evans' commitment to each point in this match. The Briton produces a fine service game of his own to remain within striking distance. He's not going to give in.

  15. Post update

    Naomi Broady

British player on BBC Radio 5 Live Sports Extra

The crowd can be a bit stunned at the speed of what comes off Medvedev's racquet. They don't have the time to react.

  16. Post update

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 1-3 Medvedev

A serving masterclass from Medvedev. Four points on the bounce, finished with an ace. Game.

  17. Get Involved

Adam Haigh: Medvedev looking every bit the world #2 and as close to a dead cert for the final as you’re going to get.

Have to agree with you there, Adam.

  18. Medvedev breaks

    Evans 3-6 4-6 1-2 Medvedev*

That's some return. Medvedev breaks - and Evans' hopes of reaching a first Grand Slam quarter-final hang by a thread.

  19. Break points Medvedev

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 1-1 Medvedev

And now Medvedev goes after Evans as he looks to deliver a potentially decisive blow.

A volley and a couple of misses from the Briton. Two break points.

  20. Post update

    *Evans 3-6 4-6 1-1 Medvedev

The opportunities are few and far between for the time being on the Medvedev serve. The world number two takes his ace count to 12 and holds to love.
