Colin Edwards missed out on riding in Sunday's Catalan MotoGP after failing a late medical on his broken collarbone.

The Tech 3 Yamaha rider fell at the slow-speed turn five in practice on Friday and landed on his shoulder.

The Texan had hoped to make a token race appearance despite breaking his collarbone less than 48 hours earlier.

But despite his best efforts medics ruled that he was he not fit to ride, and so he misses a race for the first time since his debut in 2003.
