Mildenhall Fen Tigers starlet Cameron Heeps has laid out his aspirations to become an Elite League rider.

The 15-year-old Australian finally made his Tigers debut three weeks ago, scooping a match-winning 14-point haul against Buxton.

"Hopefully in the next year I can go on up into the Premier League," he told BBC Radio Suffolk.

"My ultimate goal is to make the Speedway Grand Prix or be one of the top Elite League riders."

Heeps is considered a hot prospect in speedway, and Mildenhall had to work hard to secure the youngster's signature.

Despite an agreement for his arrival being finalised in March, problems signing off the paperwork to allow him to ride in Britain meant the former Western Australia Under-16s champion did not take to the West Row track until June.

But a total of 26 points in his first two meetings has improved his chances of winning a place with Tigers' parent team, Ipswich Witches.

"I haven't signed any contracts yet, because I'm not 16," he explained.

"But by the sound of things it's an awesome club to come to so I'm hoping I get a spot there next year."
