Alex Lowes parts company with MSS Kawasaki BSB team
Lincoln's Alex Lowes has left the MSS Kawasaki British Superbike team after a poor run of form.
Lowes, 20, joined the team as a stand-in for the injured Stuart Easton after dominating the BSB Evo class with WFR Honda in the early part of the season.
Team boss Nick Morgan said: "Alex is a very talented young rider.
"But it might have been too big an ask to move up from Supersport [in 2010] to Evo to BSB and World Superbikes, all in such a short space of time."
Lowes ran regularly among the front-runners for the WFR Honda team in the BSB Evo class, which has stricter regulations and standardised electronics that will come into force across the whole of the series in 2012.
After leaving WFR following a dispute over contracts, he linked up with MSS Kawasaki as a replacement for Easton who suffered serious injuries in a crash during practice for the NW200 road races in May.
However, after a good start with the team, Lowes then struggled, picking up points in only three of his 13 races with them.
He also rode for Castrol Honda in two World Superbikes rounds as a stand-in for Jonathan Rea, claiming a solitary championship point at Brno in the Czech Republic.
