Speedway: Tomasz Jedrzejak signs for Lakeside Hammers

Lakeside Hammers

Lakeside Hammers have added Poland international Tomasz Jedrzejak to their side until the end of the season.

The 32-year-old has had spells at Lakeside in 2008 and 2009 and has also ridden for Eastbourne Eagles.

"He's a very good rider around Lakeside," captain Lee Richardson told BBC Essex.

Jedrzejak will only feature for the Hammers if they finish in the play-off spots, something which is now out of their hands.

Third-placed Lakeside have finished their regular season, while Coventry, who are four points adrift, have two meetings remaining.

"Tomasz can ride on away tracks as well so I think he's a big plus for the club," Richardson added.

"The atmosphere within the team's fantastic, there are no big egos in our team which makes a big difference.

"We've probably come into form a bit late in the season, but Coventry did that last year and went into the play-offs and won the title," he added.

"We've got to get there first but if everyone can raise their game a bit there's no reason we can't progress through."
