Toomebridge rider Michael Laverty finished a disappointing 22nd in the Netherlands Grand Prix at Assen.

Laverty, who has secured points in just one race this season, was competing for the Paul Bird team.

Valentino Rossi claimed his first win since 2010 with victory at the Dutch circuit as Jorge Lorenzo took fifth despite a broken collarbone.

Marc Marquez was second and Britain's Cal Crutchlow was third after starting from pole for the first time.
