Speedway: King's Lynn Stars handed rider fitness boost

King's Lynn Stars have received positive news on the fitness of Olly Allen and Mads Korneliussen.

Both Allen and Korneliussen suffered falls last week but boss Rob Lyon is confident the pair will return for his side's trip to Lakeside on 21 May.

"Olly's sore from his shoulder dislocation but hopefully he'll be back," Lyon told BBC Radio Norfolk.

"Mads luckily didn't break anything, he's very stiff, sore and bruised but I don't think he'll be a problem."

Lyon's selection problems were worsened for last Saturday's trip to Eastbourne, with Niels-Kristian Iversen and Lasse Bjerre in action in Denmark, so Rory Schlein, Kevin Doolan and Josh Auty were called in as guest riders.

And the Stars recorded an unlikely 48-45 win at Arlington, with 19-year-old Australian Sam Masters impressing with an 11-point haul.

"He turned in a performance that belies his experience, he's a talented boy," said Lyon.

"He made some superb starts all night, rode some great lines and he was the difference."
