Speedway: Witches close in on Scorpions win
Ipswich Witches made light work of Scunthorpe Scorpions in the first leg of their Knock Out Cup tie.
Kevin Doolan, Chris Schramm and Taylor Poole all hit double figures in a convincing 55-35 victory at Foxhall.
Young Australian Poole's 11-point haul was enough to secure him the man of the meeting award.
"If we ride in the he second leg like we did at the end of this meeting, we should beat them there," the 18-year-old told BBC Radio Suffolk.
"To be honest I thought we were going to really struggle at the start of the meeting but we got there in the end.
"I really like this team, without Kevin [Doolan, captain] being my main partner I don't think I'd have scored half the points I've been scoring, I thank him so much."
Scunthorpe host the Witches in the return leg next Thursday.
