Oxfordshire's Bradley Smith says he is relieved to have overcome difficult conditions and finished third at the Dutch MotoGP this weekend.
The result moves Smith up to fourth in the Championship and he told his website: "It was really hard work because the conditions were so varied.
"At the start of the race I felt really comfortable, but once it started to dry I started to suffer a little bit.
"I found it more difficult, but to get that result is absolutely awesome."
The 20-year-old continued: "When I was at the front and the track was pretty damp, that's when I felt at my best.
"We went very cautious with the set-up, making sure we could get full grip if the rain came down."
The result was Smith's second podium finish of the season having secured second place at Silverstone earlier this month, and he next travels to Italy for the Mugello GP.
"I love Mugello so hopefully I'll be very competitive there next weekend too."
