Michael Laverty came in sixth in Sunday's British Superbike Championship race at Oulton Park.

The scheduled second superbike race failed to go ahead after heavy rain at the English circuit.

Ian Lowry failed to finish the race while Toomebridge man Laverty moves up a place to fourth in the series, 85 points behind leader Shane Byrne.

Carrickfergus rider Alastair Seeley was third in the Supersport race with Michael Nutt back in 17th.

Seeley remains second in the standings but leader Ben Wilson increased the gap to 53 points after finishing second.

Laverty's brother John suffered multiple injuries after crashing in practice on Friday.

The postponed second Superbike race will now be held at Cadwell Park next month.
