Isle of Man TT: Molyneux to make TT return in 2012

Only John McGuinness and Joey Dunlop have won more TT races

Fourteen-times TT sidecar champion Dave Molyneux will return to the Isle of Man TT races in 2012.

The Manx racer will again team up with passenger Patrick Farrance and he is looking forward to the challenge.

"I really missed competing this year. I had to take a year out and take stock," said Molyneux.

The pair last competed in 2010, finishing second in Sidecar Race 2 and will again race the Kawasaki backed ZX-6R machine.

Molyneux, 47, made his TT debut in 1985 and is the most successful sidecar driver in the history of the event.

His 14 victories make him the joint-third most successful TT racer ever, level with Mike Hailwood and only superseded by John McGuinness (17) and Joey Dunlop (26).

The Isle of Man racer also holds the ultimate lap record for the sidecar class, which he set in 2009.

"It is a very competitive class and there are lots of crews that are capable of winning. The new engine rules will play a major part in next season. I will certainly be out to win," he added.

The pair are planning a number of warm up meetings which will start next month at the Aintree Motorcycle meeting.
