Lakeside Hammers will take a slender 47-46 lead into the second leg of their Elite League play-off semi-final against Eastbourne Eagles.

The Hammers started brightly on their home track, opening up a 23-13 advantage by the end of heat six.

But a tactical Lewis Bridger ride in race seven, which secured a 7-2, proved the turning point for the visitors.

The Eagles continued to score well, finishing narrow losers but favourites heading into the return fixture.

The Hammers will travel to Arlington Stadium on Monday, 26 September.
