Jersey driver James Walker has secured a place at the 2012 Le Mans 24 Hour Race alongside JMW team-mate Rob Bell.

The pair won in the final round of the 2011 Le Mans Series in Estoril, lifting them up to second overall in their class.

"That was the perfect weekend," said Walker. "It was definitely the best race weekend of my career.

"It has taken 10 years to get here and it feels great now I am racing against some of the best drivers in the world."

He continued: "We had a great car for the race, our Dunlop tyres were perfectly suited to the hot track temperatures.

"Rob got us off on the right foot by taking pole position and we didn't look back."

The win is the second of the season for Walker and Bell, the pair having taken the chequered flag at the Paul Ricard Circuit near Marseille in April.
