Stoke Potters promoter Dave Tattum has predicted a bright future for number one rider Simon Lambert.

The 22-year-old has been in excellent form in his first season at Loomer Road and scored an 18-point maximum in Stoke's defeat at Mildenhall on Sunday.

Tattum told BBC Radio Stoke: "It's a tricky, technical track but Simon seems to get round Mildenhall very well.

"Simon's on the verge of good things in the sport and he's an out-and-out number one in our league."

He continued: "He said he would prove that to us and he's done that time and time again for us this season for us. He's a brilliant number one."

The Potters were beaten 51-43 at West Row in the first leg of the Knockout Cup final, with the second leg taking place at Stoke's Loomer Road track on 22 October.

Stoke also face Mildenhall in the semi-finals of the National League play-offs, with the ties taking place on 1 and 2 October.
