King's Lynn Stars have announced the signing of 22-year-old German rider Kevin Wolbert from Edinburgh.
Stars team manager Rob Lyon confirmed Wolbert would begin the Elite League season in the team's number five slot.
"He showed a lot of promise at the end of last season when he rode for Poole," Lyon told BBC Radio Norfolk.
"I think he's got a lot more in him, he's ambitious and wants to improve, I think it's a signing that's a good one for the future."
He continued: "I think if he enjoys himself and the club get on well with him he'll want to stay for a few seasons."
Wolbert was a trophy winner in the Premier League with Edinburgh in 2009 and 2010, before joining Elite League Birmingham in 2011.
He lost his place with the Brummies in July, but a late-season move to cover injuries at Poole saw him help secure silverware in the KO Cup and Championship Play-Offs.
Lynn have now confirmed four riders for 2012, with Wolbert joining Niels-Kristian Iversen, Mads Korneliussen and David Howe, and Lyon says the named of the rest will soon be made public.
"We've spent a lot of time looking at the options and we're virtually there now, I hope the supporters will be happy with what we've put together.
"There's a supporters meeting on the 22nd of December, I believe, at King's Lynn Football Club where well reveal all to the fans," he added.
