This year's three-day Rally Isle of Man event will feature a new night-time stage on Douglas promenade, organisers have announced.

Rally IOM Chairman John Gill said the night-time stage on 20 September will add a "new dimension to the event."

It will see pairs of cars race side-by-side along Harris promenade and has been purposely-designed for spectators.

The year's event will also incorporate the the Druidale Motor Clubs' Duke Stages Rally.

Gill added: "We have been working on this new stage for several months and it is great to be able to confirm that it has come to fruition.

"We are delighted that the authorities have given us permission to hold it in the heart of Douglas and we hope it will put Rally Isle of Man back where it belongs, as the premier road rally, not only on the island but also in Europe."

The rally will take place between Thursday, 20 and Saturday, 22 September.
