Plymouth Devils fell to the bottom of the Premier League table after weekend losses away at Somerset and Scunthorpe.

The Devils were beaten 52-41 against league leaders Somerset Rebels on Friday and suffered a 54-39 defeat against Scunthorpe Scorpions on Sunday.

Plymouth's Ryan Fisher collected 15+1 on Friday but Somerset's reserve strength proved too strong.

Ben Barker scored 11 for the Devils on Sunday but they never looked like ending Scunthorpe's unbeaten home run.

In the first of the two meetings, Plymouth never recovered after falling 10-2 behind against Somerset after two heats.

They did manage to reduce the arrears to five points following Fisher's tactical ride win in heat nine but the home side were always in control.

Somerset, led by an excellent performance from number one Jason Doyle, won five of the last six races to close out the match and take all three league points.

On Sunday night, Plymouth's away woes continued as they were defeated by second-placed Scunthorpe Scorpions.

Plymouth managed just one heat advantage in the entire match thanks to Cory Gathercole's tactical win in race seven.

The weekend defeats, coupled with nearest rival Redcar's home win on Thursday, means Plymouth drop to the foot of the table.
