Christy Toye has given Donegal a pre-Championship boost by returning to action after injury.

Toye returned to Donegal colours for the first time since last summer in a challenge victory over Leitrim earlier this week.

The forward underwent surgery on a recurring Achilles problem in November and he has been bothered by a number of injuries in recent seasons.

Donegal beat Leitrim 2-14 to 2-11 in the game played at Templeport in Cavan.

Under new manager Jim McGuinness, Donegal have secured promotion to Division 1 of the Allianz Football League and they will face Laois in the Division 2 decider later this month.

Toye's return will be a further boost for the rejuvenated Donegal squad.
