Donegal manager Jim McGuinness was delighted with his team's display in the 1-11 to 0-8 win over Derry in the Ulster SFC final at Clones.
"It's phenomenal - it means everything to me to win the Ulster Championship," said McGuinness.
"The players have made a lot of sacrifices to get to this point and it's great for them to get their medal.
"I loved playing in the championship and always felt we should have won more so to achieve this is wonderful."
He added: "I feel very privileged to be part of this group because they are very hard working and very committed.
"If you are a coach standing in the middle and they listen to what you say and they are switched on then that's a credit to them.
"Kevin Cassidy was immense for us - he put his body of the line and showed mature leadership.
"It's just great for us to be taking this championship back to Donegal."
