Ballymena striker Gary McCutcheon has informed the club that he will be leaving the Showgrounds at the end of the season.

McCutcheon, who has bagged 27 goals during the current campaign, is set to join Crusaders in the summer.

The 33-year-old has six months remaining on his Sky Blues contract and will continue to play for the Braidmen until the end of the season.

Ballymena had offered McCutcheon an attractive deal to stay at the club.

McCutcheon signed for United in the summer of 2010 after surprisingly being released by Portadown.

The Ports and the Crues were among the clubs to express an interest in landing the forward when his contract expires this summer.

"I'm obviously disappointed to lose a striker who can score 25 to 30 goals in a season but we have to move on and try to rebuild again," said Ballymena boss Glenn Ferguson.

"These things happen in football," he added.
