Tyrone 1-16 1-6 Monaghan

Kyle Coney starred for Tyrone at Omagh

Tyrone completed a 100% record in Division Two and consigned Monaghan to relegation by earning a comprehensive success at Healy Park.

The impressive Kyle Coney hit six first-half points as the Red Hands led 0-10 to 0-3 at the interval.

Ciaran Hanratty's goal straight after the restart gave Monaghan hope but it proved a false dawn for the Farney men.

Cathal McCarron's late goal completed a facile Tyrone win as Monaghan's Donal Morgan was dismissed late on.

Colm Cavanagh hit Tyrone's opening score before three unanswered Coney points.

Paul Finlay opened Monaghan's account but further scores from Owen Mulligan, Peter Harte and Coney then extended Tyrone's lead to 0-8 to 0-1.

The sides shared the next four points and Finlay missed a great goal chance for Monaghan moments before half-time.

Hanratty's soccer-style finish cut Tyrone's lead to four after the restart but Monaghan were unable to get any closer despite points from Finlay and Tommy Freeman.

Sensing that their Division 2 fate was sealed, Monaghan appeared to wilt in the closing stages and McCarron's late goal put further daylight between the sides.
