Donegal star Karl Lacey is expected to recover from injury in time for next month's Ulster SFC decider.
The defender had minor knee surgery recently but Donegal assistant manager Rory Gallagher is confident Lacey will be fit to face Monaghan or Cavan.
"He will be fit for the Ulster final - in fact I'm 100% sure he will be fit for it," said Gallagher.
Midfielder Neil Gallagher is also set to make the Ulster decider following a knee injury.
Footballer of the Year Lacey has struggled with injury since Donegal's All-Ireland triumph last September.
"Karl is coming on fine and is continuing his rehab and is expected to return to full training next Tuesday night," Gallagher told the Donegal Democrat.
"Unfortunately, he will not be ready to play for the club this weekend in the championship - the game has just come a week too soon. "
