Marty Nutt secures Ducati Challenge title at Silverstone

Marty Nutt from Castlerock wins the Ducati Challenge Championship by finishing fourth at Silverstone.

Northern Ireland's Marty Nutt has clinched the Ducati Challenge Championship at Silverstone.

The 37-year-old former Irish champion made sure of the title by finishing fourth on Sunday.

Nutt, from Castlerock in County Londonderry, had held a 12-point advantage over second placed Jonathan Railton going into the final day.

"It only took 15 years but this is awesome. I race because I just love it. The results are a bonus," said Nutt.

"But to see everyone happy makes it all worthwhile.

"When I broke my back last year, and my neck, I knew I didn't want to leave it like that, and to come back and stand here today is mega."

Nutt's father Billy is a former clerk of the course for the North West 200 and Ulster Grand Prix.

The Ducati 848 Challenge is a one-make series and is a support event for the British Superbike Championship races.
