Eugene Laverty crashes out of Japanese MotoGP
Eugene Laverty failed to finish in Sunday's MotoGP after crashing in the early stages of the race at Motegi.
The 30-year-old from Toomebridge was not injured in the incident which came two days after he crashed in practice.
Laverty was taken away on a stretcher on Friday but was passed fit to race after a routine check on hospital.
Marc Marquez of Spain won the race to clinch his third world title after his nearest rivals Valentino Rossi and Jorge Lorenzo crashed out.
Aspar Ducati rider Laverty is now 12th in the championship standings.
He will quit MotoGP at the end of the season and return to World Superbikes, competing on an Aprilia machine.
