Sunflower Trophy: Glenn Irwin secures maiden Sunflower success
Glenn Irwin secured the Sunflower Trophy for the first time by winning the feature race at Bishopscourt.
The 26-year-old came home three tenths of a second ahead of Tyco BMW rider Christian Iddon, with Danny Buchan, winner for the last two years. third.
The race was re-started over six laps after initially being red-flagged.
Irwin made it a hat-trick of wins by taking victory in both Superbike races on his Be Wiser PBM Ducati, with Iddon and Buchan taking a second spot apiece.
The first Superbike race of the day was particularly keenly contested as the Carrickfergus rider took the chequered flag by just 0.8 seconds from Iddon, with Essex pilot Buchan completing the podium on his MSS Kawasaki.
New Irish Superbike champion Nikki Coates, Andrew Irwin and Robert English made up the top six in the Sunflower event.
Irwin was the victor in the opening Supersport event, winning by 0.189 seconds from David Allingham, with Carl Phillips in third.
The Gearlink Kawasaki rider, brother of Glenn, made it a double by winning race two.
