Born: 24/11/88

Career highlights

Ogogo has captained the Great Britain team in world, European and junior Olympic tournaments. He won the Junior Olympics in 2004, picking up the Outstanding Boxer of the Tournament.

The middleweight won a silver medal at the 2010 Commonwealth Games, losing out in the final to Northern Ireland's Eamonn O'Kane, a defeat he blamed on tiredness. He had earlier caused controversy by reaching the final with a win over India superstar Vijender Singh when all his points were scored through penalties.

Career background

He got into boxing after witnessing a fight in the school playground in Lowestoft when a couple of his friends fell out during a game of football. The smaller of the two kids easily beat his bigger, stronger opponent. Ogogo asked the victor where he learnt to fight and he was told about a local boxing club in Lowestoft. Ogogo went down to the gym and the rest is history.
