Olympics handball: Croatia defeat seals British whitewash

Great Britain thank their fans

Winless Great Britain have been knocked out of the women's Olympic volleyball competition after a heavy defeat by Croatia condemned them to bottom place in Group A.

The 37-14 scoreline betrayed the gulf in class between the two sides.

But with Team GB only being formed in 2006, they can take great credit for their performances in the Copper Box.

Elsewhere, Brazil overcame Angola 29-26 to top the group while Montenegro thrillingly tied 25-25 with Russia.

In the final matches of Group B, bottom of the table Sweden pushed South Korea all the way in a high-scoring tie, but the Koreans held out for at 32-28 victory.

Spain upset Norway 25-20 while top of the tree France beat Denmark 30-24 to top the group.
