London 2012: Kriss Akabusi backs Jack Green for Olympic medal

Jack Green

Olympic bronze medallist Kriss Akabusi believes 400m hurdler Jack Green can reach the Olympic final and even win a medal at London 2012.

Akabusi, who was third in 1992, mentors the 20-year-old and believes he can cause a surprise at the Games.

"Jack's a phenomenal young man with his head on his shoulders," Akabusi told BBC Radio 5 live.

"He can make the Olympic final. If he does, he can run 48 seconds low and he could be on the podium and up there."

The Barcelona Games medallist added: "I've had a little word with him about his stride pattern and that's a real privilege to be engaged with a young man with his talent."

Green will compete in both the 400m hurdles at London 2012 and the 4x400m relay and enters the Games in the best form of his career so far.

At the London Grand Prix in July he broke his personal best in the 400m and over the hurdles, the latter of which he is eighth in the world this year.
