As with most things, the truth about the Olympics can be found in The Dalston Mercury. Don't read it if you're Ryan Lochte, though.
Ahhhh Blues Leg endcan't handle the truth ?

593My guess is you are part of the 14%?
Lets face it this was the most talented sports squad ever to leave these shores it had huge names like, Murray, Wiggins, Froome, Rose 3 tennis slams, 4 tour de France wins & 1 golf major there before you start talking Olympic golds, no other team at the games even the US could boast that, throw in the likes of Kenny, Whitlock, Trott, Farah, Brownlee it was some GB team.
The BBC run their company with strict diversity quotas. I'm surprised that they haven't expressed that team GB should follow same approach. Team GB had 28% privately educated which means over-representation. (7% in population). 86% of UK is white and had less than this so under-represented. Its unfair. The white proletariat getting screwed by the establishment.
@588Well if you make food freely available people are going to queue to get it, not really surprising. I see them down my way with their headphones plugged in staring at smartphones. I don't donate my surplus food I'd rather chuck it.If the above can't be arsed to contribute to society rather than sponging off it who cares.Well done team GB!! A true inspiration to all young people.
588. Protector "People queuing at food banks and we raid the lottery bank for rowing, sailing and dressage. We can see who runs those finances (the privately educated aka toffs)."Protector is bemused and confused by simple funding concepts - treat him gently as he suffers from paranoia and an inferiority complex - but rightly so.
588. Posted by The Protector on 31 minutes agoGive it rest FGS. You work at a food bank?....I thought not, the Corbynistas are out in force tonight, Heaven help us. Lottery states will be used for sport, done play if you don't like it!!!!

How did we get more medals than ever before? It was easy. Russia were discredited & then banned. Not that they didn't deserve it but if you look at how many medals they've won in previous Olympics (& surely they can't ALL have been because of cheating) then you can see there were more available to be won than ever before.
Hope Mo gets a gong and wins SPOTY : that would wind the old git types up no end.Jealousy of excellence / success : a peculiar British trait.
Not toffs, just better off than most. Worthless and meaningless medals are not a good return for the millions we spend on indulging people with their personal ambitions. That money would be far better spent on local facilities for the general public. I don't care if someone wins an olympic gold medal, I do care if my local leisure center closes.
581. Protector "The brazil experiment is over. Like Labour, never again please."And you still can't tell us what you mean by 'toff'.Utter disgrace - but you not being British explains a great deal. The rest is explained by your OD Disorder. You've got 4 years to get help - meantime, no sharp objects or belts for you.
I'm hoping athletes like KJT (heptathlon) can perform at an Olympics and win a medal! We didn't do too well at athletics?
Looking forward, has anyone noticed that the Fukushima Nuclear Plant is only 150 miles(ish) from Tokyo and on the same coast. That particular problem hasn't gone away(ask local fishermen) and wont any time soon. After researching I notice the venue for sailing etc hasn't been finalised yet........just saying
The brazil experiment is over. Like Labour, never again please.
