Northern Ireland's three Olympic Games rowers all won silver at the World Cup regatta in Belgrade on Sunday.

In the single sculls event Coleraine's Alan Campbell finished behind Czech Republic rival Ondrej Synek in a time of six minutes, 51.33 seconds.

Synek, tipped for a medal in London, clocked six minutes, 47.83 seconds.

Brothers Peter and Richard Chambers, also products of the Bann club, were in the GB men's lightweight four which came second to Denmark.

Along with Rob Williams and Chris Bartley, they clocked a time of six minutes, 2.23 seconds with the Danes coming home in six minutes 1.17 seconds and China third.

All three of the Northern Ireland rowers are set to be part of the Great Britain team for the Olympics.

Campbell won world championship bronze in 2011 and is regarded as a strong medal contender for London.

Peter Chambers was racing in the lightweight four event alongside his brother Richard in Serbia after being promoted to the British boat.

The same British four have also been picked for the two World Cup regattas after Belgrade.
