Andrew Triggs Hodge

The British National Eight have broken the course record at the Henley Royal Regatta to beat the previously undefeated University of Washington in the Grand Challenge Cup final.

The British eight, rowing as Leander Club and Molesey, beat the record by three seconds in a time of five minutes and 54 seconds.

The previous record was set in 2011 by Germany's Ruder Club Hansa Dortmund.

The winning eight contained three of the 2012 Olympic four gold medallists.

The British combination were stroked by double Olympic champion, Andrew Triggs Hodge, and also included Pete Reed and Alex Gregory.

The Olympic men's pair bronze medallist George Nash was also in the winning crew at the 164th Henley Royal Regatta.
