Phelps could make his Hull FC debut against former club Wigan Warriors

Full-back Cameron Phelps has received clearance to join Hull FC.

Australian Phelps, 25, signed a one-year deal with the club in February but has been waiting for his visa to be cleared by the autorities in Canberra.

The ex-Wigan Warriors man is now available to make his Super League return and could be ready to face his former club on Sunday, 13 March.

Chief executive James Rule told the club websiteexternal-link: "We look forward to his arrival next week."

He added: "We have worked hard to get his visa application processed as quickly as we could and have flights on standby, so we'll look to get him into the country as soon as possible once his passport is returned to him from Canberra.

"Fans will obviously want to know when he will make his debut and there's an obvious irony in the time of his arrival, however, we won't be looking to put too much pressure on Cameron.

"We'll look to get him on a plane as soon as possible and then Richard and the coaching staff will be able to review his condition as soon as he arrives.

"He has been training hard in Australia and has been looking through our playbook, so I am sure his first appearance in Black and White won't be too far away."
