St Helens prop Josh Perry admits that he is yet to show the sort of form that made his reputation in the NRL.
The Australian forward will miss Friday's Super League game with Leeds Rhinos after being hit with a one-match ban by the Rugby Football League.
"I just need to get a bit fitter and that comes with game time," he said.
"I've got 20 to 30 per cent to go before I get to where I want to be," Perry told BBC Radio Merseyside.
"It's a bit hard to do a lot of fitness on the side at this time of year when you want to keep fresh for the games.
"But the more games I play the better it is."
Perry joined St Helens during to close season after two years with Manly Sea Eagles in the NRL.
But, due to injury, Perry has started just seven games for Saints this season.
And he was given a one-match ban for this Friday's game after being involved in a fight with Crusaders' second row Ben Flower last Friday night.
