Hull Kingston Rovers' forward Ben Galea has signed a one-year extension to his contract at the club.

The Australian agreed the deal until the end of 2012 after scoring a hat-trick of tries on his 100th appearance.

Galea told the Hull KR website: "I think we've still got a lot to achieve and I'm really happy to sign a new one-year deal."

The club also announced the departure of full-back Shaun Briscoe at the end of the season.

Briscoe has played 92 games for the Robins after joining them from neighbours Hull FC.

Galea, who was named in the Super League dream team of 2009, joined the club after winning the NRL championship in Australia and said he was delighted with Hull KR's progress.

"We won one semi-final last year and we're getting there. This year is a good opportunity for us to have a crack at it."

He continued: "I played my whole career at one club in the NRL and it'd be nice to be able to do that over here as well, so I'm really happy to be staying at Hull KR."

Head coach Justin Morgan added: "Ben has been a fantastic player for the club since he arrived in 2008 and the quality of his performances this year have certainly warranted another year at the club.

"There aren't many back-rowers with the ball handling skills that Ben has and his experience will continue to play an important part in helping develop some of the younger players we have in the squad, both on and off the field."
