Championship outfit Barrow Raiders have announced that Dean Marwood will return to Craven Park as assistant coach to Dave Clark.

The position had been offered to skipper Gary Broadbent, but he was unable to take on the role.

Marwood was previously a coach with the Raiders in 2007.

Clark, who took over as head coach from Nigel Wright last week, said: "I know what I will get from Dean and he is fully aware of what I expect from him."

He told the club's official website: "Dean and I go a long way back

"Family commitments meant he had to relinquish his previous role with the club but he is now available and will come back as my assistant once again.

"It was important that the club brought in someone to help me with the work-load and Dean is the ideal man.

"Gary Broadbent was originally approached but his role as player and club captain prevents him coming on board just yet, but there will be a post for him as part of the coaching staff if he wants it."

Barrow are currently sixth in the Championship standings, having won six of their 15 games.
