Second row forward Ed Smith has agreed a two-year deal with York City Knights.
The 18-year-old has come through the club's scholarship programme and the North Yorkshire Service Area programme.
Reserve grade head coach Mick Ramsden said: "Players with this sort of drive reap the rewards. He'll push on and cement a regular first-team place."
He added: "He's one of our brightest prospects and has improved a huge amount since he signed. This is mainly due to his desire and determination."
Smith, who has also played on the wing for the first team this year, becomes the third player to sign a deal. Adam Howard and Joe Hemmings signed two-year deals earlier this year.
Meanwhile, the club expects a decision soon from head coach Dave Woods regarding an extension to his contract, which currently expires at the end of this season.
The offer was made last week and general manager Ian Wilson said he expected a positive announcement in the next couple of days.
