Gateshead Thunder have re-signed prop Matt Barron from Championship side York City Knights for the 2012 season.
The 24-year-old left for York at the end of the 2010 season, but has return to be reunited with former team-mate and now head coach Kevin Neighbour.
"I watched some of the games last season and saw some of the players who all spoke highly of Kevin," the Wales international told the club website.
"They thought he was the right man to take Gateshead Thunder forward."
Barron added: "I have been offered terms by several other clubs but after speaking to Kevin and looking at the other players that have signed, we will go well."
Former Thunder boss Dave Woods took Barron to York for the 2011 season, but a foot injury restricted him to just eight appearances.
