Australian Anthony Watts has become the 12th new signing for Widnes ahead of their return to Super League in 2012.

Subject to receiving a visa, the 25-year-old half-back, who can also play hooker, has agreed a one-year contract.

Watts, whose NRL debut came at Cronulla in 2007, spent three seasons at North Queensland Cowboys before joining Sydney Roosters for the 2011 campaign.

"Anthony already has a proven track record in the NRL," said Widnes coach Denis Betts.

"And now he is backing himself to achieve the same heights in Super League.

"At 25, he's still got a lot of unfulfilled goals and plenty to prove in the game which makes his signing all the more pleasing."
