Hull Kingston Rovers assistant coach Chris Chester will remain in the job next season.

New Robins coach Craig Sandercock has turned down the option to bring in his own man as his number two.

Sandercock told BBC Radio Humberside: "It's always tempting to try and bring someone out from Australia that I know and trust.

"But I had a good chat to Chris and I liked where he was coming from and I like his work ethic."

Sandercock added: "He's really good at his job and I must admit that the time I've spent with him he's really impressed me, so I'm more than happy to have him as my number two."

Chester finished his playing career with Rovers before being appointed assistant coach to Justin Morgan in 2009.
